Default Getting my WRX Sedan Windows Tinted, Should I Tint Moonroof?

This question is mostly for people who have the moonroof in their '04 or '05 and have gotten their windows tinted. Did you also tint the moonroof? I already asked this as clubwrx.net, but only got one response. I'm hoping someone has experience with this either way. I'm going to get the other 5 windows tinted this weekend, and I was just trying to decide if I should get my moonroof done while I'm there.

I thought they were already tinted really dark from the factory.

If by "really dark" you mean crystal clear....then yeah, they're really dark. But seriously, no, there's no more tint on that glass than on the factory side windows and windshield. I used to have a Lumina coupe that had an aftermarket sunroof in it with those little dots all over it, so it was kinda like it was tinted. I just wonder if I want to tint that glass, it's not a cost issue, while they're already in there I don't imagine it would be any more than $20 to get them to do that too. I just don't want to get it tinted and then realize I've kinda negated the point of even having it. I mean, sure, I can still open it and let the sun shine in, but will I like it with tint???

Anyone??? Has anyone else done this???

the sunroof in my wifes car is tinted from the factory and I could not imagine it clear....that would be really hot inside the car.

I tinted my windows on my 04 but did not do the moonroof. I figured since you can close the shade if you didn't want to see out of it or block the sun that it was not worth the money. I have a blue car, if your car was black, then I would say do it because it would disguise the moonroof more. The reason why you got little to no response on this is because the moonroof is so rare. Trust me I had to fly 600 miles to pick my car up just because I was so picky about my options!

I'm kinda an "options slut" so I was very impressed to find my '04 sedan in WRB at the closest Subaru dealer in the area (Green Bay 60 miles away). It had the whole Premium Package (for those who don't know: Moonroof, heated seats/mirrors/windshield wipers, and spoiler) plus the factory sub, cf trim package, factory boost gauge, titanium shift knob, and short throw shifter. I wanted the WRB with the premium package, and it's alot easier to talk "she who must be obeyed" into a car with all those options when it's the only WRB on a lot in 350 miles ...and you didn't have to special order it to get them.

I say that because every car i've owned or have seen that came with a moonroof was really really dark.. my 2000 Prelude had a super dark moon roof =) So yeah, a crystal clear moonroof would be ridiculously hot!

I had a 4Runner with a moonroof, and I liked the idea of having the tent to give another option from being no sunlight to all sunlight.

I need to get mine tinted. I also have the premium package and was disappointed to see that it isn't tinted from the factory. As a matter of fact, the dealer had the windows tinted as soon as they unloaded it from the truck and whoever tinted them didn't do the sunroof. The reason I want it tinted is because I like to tilt the sunroof up but the glare from the sun is too intense. No sense in tilting it up if you have to close the cover to keep the sun off of you.

I did mine 35% just to cut down on the light somewhat and still block the UVA and UVB rays so I wouldnt get nuked on sunny days with the shade open and sunroof vented.

I think your should tint it. I've got my windows tinted and a eye lash on my car but didnt tint my moonroof. I wish I did because whenever I want to tilt up my moonroof the sun burns me up.

Sorry I haven't posted back about my own question. I have decided I am going to tint it. I'm not really concerned about major sun blockage, I just want it to be uniform with the rest of the windows (either 35% or 20%, haven't decided yet, gotta see it in person). I live in northern Wisconsin, so I have to go as far as Green Bay to find a reputable tint place with a reputable film.

To answer the question about how much a good tint costs: I've only heard of two really reputable films: Llumar and Madico. I'm getting Madico. Both of them offer a lifetime warranty against peeling, fading, chipping, etc. The deal I'm getting tommorow is $220 for a lifetime warranty on the film and the installation on all 4 doors and the back window of my WRX sedan. I'm going to see if he'll throw the moonroof in no charge as the $220 is a flat fee for any four door car and I can tell you that a Lincoln has alot more glass in those 4 doors than a WRX! I'll let you all know how it turns out.
