for what it's worth, i was at a dealer this weekend, and looked at all the autos that they had in stock- NONE of them had red stitching on the auto shift knob... 1 was a MY00 and 2 were MY01s.

-jason

(Of course, I'm not saying that red-stiched ones don't exist, but they definitely seem to be the exception rather than the rule. only 1 person in the previous thread said theirs was red stiched, EVERYONE else, including me, has black stitching.)

I think the number should be 35126FA120.

My dealer is getting one at no charge too.

Wow is red stitching really that rare? Myself and two other friends all have the red stitching on the shifter, and never really thought anything of it, until now.

just for the record, in the last thread:
03 people said they had red stitching on their autos
10 people said they didn't.

This is definitely something that needs more investigating. If I deserve red stitching, I want to get it!

The Auto RS I test drove had red stiching and mine has black! I even beleive that the booklet the dealer gave me in 1999 when I bought my RS showed the **** knob in the Auto as having red stiching.

At I know it's not an Amercican thing, most of us got screwed! I will go as my dealer on Monday for sure!

Cheers

Too bad that I asked my dealer today they say that is an optional accessories. And when I ask them to search for the part number in the accessories parts catalog, they cannot even look it up.

So red stiching auto knob is not a standard for people living in Edmonton.

Too bad.......... >_<

Don't beleve everything your dealer tells you. Most dealers around here don't even know what a WRX is. It is not an accessory, that is why they cant find it in the accessories catolog. It is "standard equipment" The parts department has it in the normal cataloge.

If you can't get the dealer to get it. Talk to the regional rep.

david2z4,

How can I talk to the regional rep?

Coz I really like to get one but it really doesn't make any sense in paying for extra to get an accessory that is used to be standard in my car.

Thanks

V6 I called my dealer and just asked without telling them anything that I had been talking to the regional rep and lost the contact number and they gave it to me.

Any new info on this subject? Has anyone got the above part number grip from there dealer yet and verified that it is red stiched? I am still waiting for mine to arive.

I got the non -red stiched knob as well. I called the dealer and they said none of the other cars had red stiched knobs. So I called SOA and pointed it out to them, that even on thier web page it says red-stiched knob. So he did a search and found the p/n and called the dealer I bought the car from and had them order it. Got it in a week and swaped it. When I asked the subi rep from SOA, he said there could have been probs with the supplier so they went to someone else, thus the black shift knob.
