Ok. Who's Ever DONE THIS MOD?
I'm going to install my new Hiper Head Light Strobe Kit I just got and I'm wondering, Should I drill a couple holes to fit the lights in or just glue/tape them somewhere? I've never done this mod so I need some help with picking out the best spot to insert the lights and how to keep them there.. Man what would I do without this club?

Easy guys...
Normally in police cars they drill into the headlight assemblies next to the plugs, but I'm not sure you'll want to have to buy new headlights if you decide to get rid of the strobes. This is strictly up for you to decide since that is about the only place you can mount them to have them effective. |

Dre, i understand the want for neons man, im looking into neon type stuff too....you dont HAVE to put the strobes in the headlights. im planning on putting some on the vents and scoop, somewhere where i can take it off without damaging the car when iw anna sell it. but its up to you however youw ann do it. please keep me informed as i, unlike many here, am into neons.
just so you know, i believe it is ILLEGAL in ALL states to drive your car with strobes ON. if you are parked, you can have a field day. check out streetglow.com and look on their message boards. search under the legality forums. |

I think it's mostly for looks, maybe for safety (if you have to pull over on the side of a dark foggy road), but it gives you that neat pace car effect if you run with them on at autoxes.

I had 'em in my '95 S-10 lowrider, and let me tell you, that was the coolest thing to cruise through the plaza with them on, I might get them again for my Impreza, but it was kind of a pain to get them wired up and everything. The only tricky thing was sealing up the hole that you drill to insert the strobe into the light unit using silicone. If you don't seal it good, moisture will get in there and cause the headlight to fog up. And you don't want that.

I've got Blue Strobes in my RS Headlamps and an 8" blue neon tube mounted up inside the hood scoop. For the strobes, I drilled into the top of the headlamp (take it off the car first) and dropped the strobe lamp in. Using a grommet, I fit it in the hole, then sealed it with hot glue. This system works great- No leaking, and you can even see the strobes in daylight by looking at the car... because they are mounted up inside the headlamp assembly, just like my neon tube. Looks hella cool at night! DISCLAIMER: ONLY USE THESE LAMPS WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED.

I am sure if a cop wanted to give you a hard time he could wright you up a Tic. Strobs, while look cool on our cars, are not legal in them even while parked. Thay are only legal in emergency vehicles. If he wanted to be a real pain he could probely write you up a Tic. for impersanating a emergency vehicle.(even though it would not hold up in court)I live in Pa. and know for a fact this is the law hear.(I am a E.V.O.C. certifyed E.M.T. in Pa.) I would think it would be the same in other states as well.
Oh sorry for the spelling. |
