Default Biggest event ever - WRX/STI vs EVO Showdown - Raceway Park - 9/11/04

Can the WRX / STI crew in the USA do what they do in Japan - beat the Evo?

I have been plugging away for amost a year to organize a show down between the STI/WRX and the Evo

Finally my prayers have been answered

We have seen the rivalry between the STI and EVO for years in Japan - now the two ultimate cars can face off to see who is the true champion of the track !

SEPTEMBER 11, 2004 - Raceway Park - Englishtown, NJ

There will be two classes - all limited to street driven vehicles on DOT approved tires

Bracket Class - one lane for the Subarus and one for the Evos

Heads Up Class - field of 8 cars - elimination style

Already we have some amazing prizes

Winner in EACH class will recieve a Exedy Twin Disc Clutch

Runner up in each class will recieve a Exedy Hyper Single Clutch

There will be many other prizes and sponsors added in the next few days

PLUS - the bragging rights of all time to see which car is truly the meanest machine on wheels ?????? !!!!!!!

Already set to appear at this event -

1 - Dyno Flash Evo 8

2 - Ams Evo 8

3 - Tommy a/k/a Ferraro Kid - world premere of his amazing built evo

Just came back from this event. Had to leave at 2p.m. since I have to work tonight. Too bad I missed the heads-up competition. Besides that, it was kinda boring. And most of the STis/WRXs were getting smoked. Oh well!

Is there a site where you can host your videos at?

Just came back from Etown as well..
It was nice to see AL's dyno flash EVO and Turbotrix EVO.
They both ran in 10's. Considering the weather condition both cars were awesome.

STI did well but only one of them ran high 12's..

I am sure they will run faster as the weather cools down in the evening...

I was hoping more support from vendors but only XXtuning had a booth..

I hope to see more event like this in NE area..

So no "normal" evos ran 10's?? I know a white evo from NY with the AMS GT35R kit that's supposed to be 10's full interior.

i left early at like 2... and i was not impressed to say the least. i thought there were supposed to be 9 and 10 second evo's.... and wrx/sti's in the 11's... the reason i didn't run my car is cause i thought i would've been blown away running a 12.7. there were some nice looks automobiles there though.

Yea day sucked IMO. Only managed a 12.5@116mph out of the silver STI ****er is heavy too... 3300lbs. Boost was back down to 20psi as the stock clutch has had it with me. Sucked... I was already....minus a clutch. 2002wrxsti guy went 12.5s as well and Another Wrx broke into the 11s..11.9@122mph.
Our EVo went 10.4@137 mph with the 17s and 225/40/17s...LOL.. 1.88 60fts. Car also had another 150+ lbs to make it a "street car " so no one would complain.

If you ran your STi between 11:30a.m. and 1:45p.m., please post your 1/4 mile time and mph. If I have it on video, I'll post up. I'm at work now but I'll try to set up a We-Todd account if I can and put a couple of videos up tomorrow.

They aren't the best of quality (done on digital camera) and I had to get them from the top end. If I were in the regular stands, the 1/4 mile time wouldn't show up properly. The right lane (facing 1/4 mile time billboard) was difficult to see. Appeared the lights were a little dim from my angle.

I remember seeing an Evo or two run 10's but I don't believe any of them were Al's car (Gray with the blue fire and all). I have to search through the runs.

When I was there, the fastest Evo I saw I believe was a 10.4 and the fastest Subaru was in the mid to low 12's. I don't believe I saw any Subarus go into the 11s while I watched though at least one did from what's said above. Makes me think how the Subaru shootout is going to be. Maybe I should just get a 200 shot on a Justy and take over with one really good run.

Edit: Just read your post Junior. I think I have you on tape.

I'll be the first to say, The subies including me and my subie got own3d.

That was a sad showing I must say. With all the" I just got tuned and made 4xxhp at the wheels" posts i see every other day I cant believe the fastest STi I saw was barely into the 11's.

Something has got to be wrong with this picture because mathematically there is no way these cars can be anywhere near 350 at the wheels with the times I saw. Maybe the next showdown should be on a legit dyno.

My car sucked by the way. 15.1,Launch bog, fuel cut, bog, fuel cut, bog 5th gear at the 8th mile because I couldn't get past 5k rpms...Noone ever said base maps were good for drag racing. At least I know the motor is strong if it can take that kind of abuse.

(I was the multi color RS if anyone cares.)

what the hell happened to all the faster STi's. Carguy, did u run your STi with the new external setup? I did not get all my stuff in to make it to my dyno appointment and thats why i thought id also get blown away with my current setup which is probably good for mid 12's. Wow this is a sad day as i hoped that few STi's would easily touch 11's. Well guys maybe better luck next year. To whoever showed up, still give you guys props for representing the subie crowd.

not really a surprising outcome, the motors in the evo's are bamf's. You sneeze and you're running low 12's.

Default Englishtown Results!!!!!!!!

It was total EVO donination!!!!!!!!! i think 5 evos lost the whole day out of 200 runs or more...im serious....NO sti hit 11's....5 (customer) evos did, and turbotrix ran 10.5@133 and Al ran 11.0@130 i left after they had another chance or two so they may have improved... i rarely saw an 12 sec pass by an sti, almost every evo hit lower 12's or mid.....a wrx or two hit an 11.9 i belive and a few low 12.s...the wrx's even embarassed the stis..it was abd showing.....

i may be wrong silverstiinpa ran 11.8???? with doug e fresh driving...but i think doug was friving a different car and my facts are worng im not sure....

i ran nothing cause im too much of a baby and my synchros are bad and didnt wanan trailor home....it was an unreal turnout....cant wait for the pics.....best show i have ever been too in my life hands down...

Nope. Wasn't me. I had some horrible runs. Nothing like sitting on Launch Control for eternity until the starter decided to start the lights

Doug could drive the car anytime he wants. I trust him.

I am still fighting w/ the launch of this car. Otherwise, the EVO's were dominant. The fastest STI I saw run was 11.9

Dyno numbers = bench racing in my eyes... this is a perfect example of why.
