Difference between european and american headlights?
In the past there has usually been a difference between European and the American versions of cars headlights (Mercedes, VW, Saab, etc.) With the european spec usually being more powerful as well as having the little 5W parking bulb in the headlamp cluster.
Anyway, does anyone know if the euro version of the Impreza headlight is different/better? I noticed, at least for the WRC car, that the lense looks pretty different from the American car. Is the fog light different as well?

Are you talking about the new Impreza, or the current body style?

To my knowledge.. it's the way the lense scatters the light
"driving pattern" My brother has a VW corrado.. he just bought Euro spec head lights because they use a signifigantly differnt pattern to throw the light and do it much more effectivly.. |

Yup, talking about the current Impreza. I was a big fan of Euro lighting and convinced my dad to convert to the Euro headlamps on his Benz and I put the GTi lamp kit on my old Golf, er Rabbit, MK.I. they usually had different lenses and more powerful bulbs. Even my Nissan Micra that I had in Germany had more light than my Impreza. And that is a tiny econobox!
I dunno, check out the lens on the car (kinda big) http://216.242.153.40/MembersList/Vi...?MemberID=1623 These kinda seem different to me than the US spec. Anyone from Europe here? I don't think there is a difference, and if there is it is very little. I have read many times on the UK boards how they think the head lamps are bad.
Arnie's picture has a pre 99 lamp on the right and a 99+ lamp on the Left. The 99+ lamp having a multi-surface reflector to spread the light and the pre 99 lamp having the lens do all the work and what looks to be a smooth reflector. About the fog lamps. I, again, think the UK and JDM spec lamps are the same. That is why most UK people swap them out for real driving lamps like the Prodrive/PIAA or the CIBIEs or others. |
