Heated Seats?
Has anyone ever thought of putting subaru heated seats into their impreza?? Does anyone know if this can even be done without getting new seats etc.?

It would involve taking apart the seats, so you can put in the heated seat elements you would have to run wiring to switches and a fuse, stuff like that. Its hard to explain. Dont some scoobs come with heated seats? Steal the parts from them.
If I had the right parts I could do it. You also have to find out if the fabric the RS seats are made out of can with stand the heat. Heated seats are also dangerous in my opinion, they work like a toaster, you run voltage through a series of wires encased in a thin fabric sheet, this is a "heated seat element" In the element is also usually a tempeture sensing device that will shut the pad off it gets to hot. But this usally does not work right. You cannot turn a heated seat on and let the seat warm up before you get in it becuase it wont be able to disapate the heat, this will end up in the element overheating and the wires breaking. Heated seats require that you sit in the seat so the heat can be dissapted through your body so the element doesnt overheat. Ive taken apart many seats in Lincolns, and if the wire in the heated element breaks, and doesnt blow the fuse, the fabric the wires are in has had evidence of small burns, like ciggarette burns. Though I have never heard of the heated seats burning anyone or starting fires, just something to think about. This is probably more info than you wanted but, once I get started I cant stop haha. I can't speak for other Subie models but the S model Forester has a heated seat option. So maybe some of the parts could be re-used in this application.
