Question probs with utec and ap. need clarification

i was talking to one of my friends and i just wanted to back up what he said. first off he said that the utec doesnt like to keep a tune very well and that you have to get it retuned or tune it your self every week or else it will return back to stock numbers. he also said that the accessport takes away your cruise control and you can no longer use it if you have it. i want to know if any of this is true and if it is still relevent in the 05 utec and ap.
thanks everyone for your time!
bryan

you only lose your cruise when you trigger a cel.
at least on my04.
i know nothing of utec, but it sure sounds like a ridiculous assumption

Your freind doesn't have a Utec. He's one of those fellows that thinks he knows it all and just makes it up as he goes, right? do some research your self there's tons of info. if you listen to your idiot buddy your going to blow your car up.

Hi guys,
i have had a lot of problems with my 02 wrx running a stage 4. I just recently had an engine and transmission put in. I noticed from day one with the utec that cruise controll does work, but when you want to accelerate wtih the c.control on the car didnt perform well at all. Know i have not tried it with my new engine. But i did run across the other problem. The keeping its setting part that makes no sense though.
ps. anybody know of a good utec tuner in Mass?

Only thing that could be keeping you from being able to use the cruise accel button to its "full potential" is a bad tune. You need to get a tuner or someone to get your crossover settings correct if you are running OLF. If you aren't then you need to richen up your fueling at 10 and 20% load probably. This is because when you accelerate you are getting into boost at part throttle and that is where OLF comes into play that makes it so great. Kinda tough to nail down a good crossover set right at first but then you learn it. Anyways, good luck!! If you aren't using software 4.2 then you need to convert!! Save your maps first!!

so other when you throw a cel the ap lets you use cruise and all its functions all the time? and does the utec need to be tuned every week or does it keep the tune well? thanks for your help!

There is no such thing as a UTEC with the newest software not keeping a tune. Tune has much to do with weather, climate conditions, altitude etc etc. But, if you have a good tune(as with anything) and aren't on the edge then you will never have to retune it unless you get different mods.
