Default cobb ap owner results poll... please post.

hey guys, jut wondering if i could get a poll going of accessport owners.
my main concern is with target boost levels.
it seems to be a common occurrence with ap owners not reaching them and i wanted to get an idea if there is any common circumstances such as wg porting.

1. have ap, stock unported turbo, hit target boost, everything's great.

2. have ap, stock ported turbo, hit target boost, everything's great.

3. ap, not ported, low boost, tried hwg maps, not happy

4. ap, ported, low boost, tried hwg maps, not happy

***edit***
please post in the thread if you are using an mbc or ebc in addition to ap.
thank you

Totally stock and nothing done to the car expect for an axle back. I was hitting 13psi in the first few days of the accesport but now I can only get 11psi MAX! 10 is usually what it will settle to. This is in 1st thru 5th. I am going to wait till I get my stage 2 setup on there in about 2 weeks and then reflash and see what happens.

I have Cobb Stage 2 and have been hitting 16psi + since day one. I'm very satisfied with the product. #1. FWIW I have SN 125.

A precentage of those who don't reach boost had or have 3/16th mod or MBC which IMHO freaked out the ECU or the folks are having troubles with getting the hoses corrected. All I did was to put a load on the WRX after the flash and hit 16PSI. Cobb has more aggressive maps for those who can't hit target. Some I have noted on the Cobb board have babied the car. Others have legit complaints. But those seem to be the minority. If it works fine you won't see any or may see few positive postings...but if there is a problem you will see many postings of the few who have problems. Those folks are reconcilling the machine with the AP...JIMHO of course.

Peace

i only see 14 psi on stage II......iv tried filling up with 93 oct and useing stg II 93 oct map and HWG map but the boost stays the same no matter what....not sure if its because im a mile high in elevation and its been 90 degrees out....maybe its a good thing i can only get 14 psi boost because i cant make my greddy EGT gauge (mounted in drive side manifold "dot") go above 850 degrees C....i think most people see 900

There wasn't a selection for:

have ap, stock ported turbo, hit target boost, not happy

13.2@105 with a 1.8 60' Stage 2 93 oct sucks......

I ran a 13.3@101 with a 1.8 60' without the AP.

looks like its the drivers fault....you trapped 4mph higher and only knocked off .1 ........4mph should be good for atleast .3-.4.

same 60', and you feel that your driving is the same so you were hoping for a better improvement from ap?

what do i win?

so far, we have zero posts for ported turbos and target boosts, and happy.
i am debating buying another vf39 or a vf34 (if it's safe) and trying it unported on the same car.

i really wish i had gotten my turbo deadbolted, or done it myself.

well, i am mostly interested in what % of people are actually having the low boost issue, and if it's a porting issue or not.

but for $600 i want total performance, not just a smoother power delivery.

glad you are happy though

ding ding ding!!

hand the man a cigar.

I was only seeing 17 psi max. Others were seeing 18. It's neglible, I know. It did feel nice around town but at the track I wasn't impressed. Maybe I expected a lil too much.

I do know that if I could cut a better light, I'd be in the 12's for sure but still, I didn't see that much of a gain with the AP. Yes, there are other variables like temp, humidity, ect to consider.

Stage 1 map 91 octane flashed - this is the way the WRX should have driven like out of the dealership

very satisfied Cobb customer. now if they could just get their exhaust systems shipped out faster...

now i am on the stg 93 hwg map as base, hoping to see a boost improvement.
1st < 9psi
2nd 10-11psi
3rd high 12-low13psi
4th mid-high14psi
5th mid 15's
6th peaks @ mid 16's, highest i have seen is 16.7

this is thus far way below what cobb says the ap should hit on stg2
i am loving the feel of the power band, and especially the better gas mileage.
but i NEED my 17-18psi on wed, fri, &sat!

Give it a few more days, might make a lil difference. Did you reset the ecu after the map change?

reset on initial flash.
then reset on switch to hwg.
i won't make any rash moves until a week or so goes by.
supposed to get it dyno'd tomorrow, but kinda wish i was getting better boost.
at least i'll have an idea of what i'm working with.
unfortunately i don't have many other options anyway.
accesstuner should be out in 2007
utec is b/o'd until 2005
ecutek tuner would take me until 2006 to drive to and get reflash.

I had a stage 1 reflash before I had the AP. I had to use the Cobb restrictor to hit target boost on stage 1. I just got my AP to work this week and I had left the Cobb restrictor in place. I hit 0.11 MPa easy in 3-5, and in 2 under the right load conditions. Target hit.

Today I thought I would give it a try with the stock restrictor. No dice. Only hit .09 MPa. Fourth and fifth would barely creep above 0.1 MPa. (I did a reset). I tried the HWG map. No effect. So I burnt some fingers and put the Cobb restrictor back in. Bam!! Full boost.

BTW, my experience is that learning for boost happens VERY quickly, within a few hard pulls. Learning for timing takes a little longer, but never the 2 or three days others talk about.

The only negative effect I get from the restrictor is that I spike a bit (like .005 MPa, or maybe 0.5 PSI) when I go WOT from low RPMs (<3500). No big deal, and not worth giving up 10% of your boost.

Has anyone ever really figured out why some cars boost more easily than others? One way to find out is to take a hard boost car and an easy boost car and start swapping parts until the boosting capability follows the part.

how about:
have ap, stock unported turbo, Over boost, now running LWG map

my car is stock as far as the engine goes loaded the AP up and everything was great. Jumped on the freeway got stuck behind slow moving traffic, when it was time to pass I droped down to 4th gear @ 60 mph and BAM fuel cut boost creep whatever people want to call it I call it scary

not as happy running the LWG map but want to play it safe

Cobb Stage 1, 93 octane, Driven for 1,000 miles, no problems yet.

Hits target boost of at least 14.5 psi, maybe .1-.3 higher.

What he said....what he drives, too. Overall, I'm very happy with the difference in every gear. AP + Cobb 3" CBE, TBE + Stage 2 coming in a month or 2 when it starts to get boring.

Wow that is an impressive dyno.

So you have a full TBE and reflashed the cobb stage 2? Do you have an uppipe, intake, or anything else?

ap, stock turbo unported, hit targets, happy

03 WRX with St2 91 Oct, ASP uppipe, Bosal DP, Borla Hush, IC Hoses, Panel Filter. Base Map: Stg1 91 Oct. I see boost hitting 16 under WOT from the first time AP was installed. AP made noticable difference, car pull a lot harder now.

OT: EGTs are a bit high, but no higher than before AP (1300-1400 highway cruising, 1550-1600+ under WOT in 4th and 5th)

Nope just the turboback and reflash. It was a Mustang dyno that normally reads around 175whp on a stock wrx.
