Default Detailed A Red 91Turbo MR2 Today *56K warning-lot of Pics*

Click For All The Pics

I detailed a Crimson Red (unlike my Super Red 93-see pics below) 91 MR2 Turbo today. The paint itself was in very good condition, although a bit swirled. The spoiler was a bit on the faded side, but I took care of that and I'd say about 85% of the swirls. There are quite a few surface scratches that I couldn't touch (but nothing short of a respray is gonna fix those)

The car was washed with Dawn, clayed, washed again, then I used Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner and Polish x2 followed by Meguiard Gold Class topped by Meguiars NXT. The entire process took about 5 hours, but the owner and I (and his cool dad) were chatting most of the time.

Here are the pics:

Spolier before (it's faded, and hard to see in the pics-looks pinkish)

w3rd. . .thanks all! It's not that often that you'll see 2 MR2's with pretty much the same detail job together like that. I really took the oportunity to go pic crazy today with the 2 of us.

Can't wait to get the turbo swap and my OEM Fog's installed after today. . .

Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner and Polish. It's a mild abrasive that's very good at removing swirls while cleaning and polishing the paint at the same time. I did mention the DACP in my original post, but I didn't put the (DACP) after it so you'd know what it was.

naw, too plain. I need fog lights. I will get clear corners, not sure if I'll get the ebay Diamond ones (like pictured) or the less shiny JDM one's (like I used to have on my 91T)

yeah, under Tcengel, I just sold my MR-2 and am looking for a Silvia for spring. If none are available I will end up with another MR-2. Driving an SUV now.

Chee,

you've been saying since I got my MR2 in April that I'm "motivating" you to finish but I have STILL yet to see a MR2 at a meet that belongs to you. I stick by my words that you don't even own one

Let me know when it's done and ready to make an appearance. . .

Yeah, I actually just sold the frame for cheap. I parted out everything and only lost $500 on what I paid for it. It was sad to sell it, but life is progression. Marriage and a kid comes first. Money trap turbo car comes second

Way too over engineered for an early 1990's car. They are soo fun though and look really good when done right.

David, is this something you do on the side for money, or just for fun? I would sure like to get all the nasty black swirl marks out of my truck and I can't seem to do it on my own.

subieworx, i use a Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Sander/Polisher. It's achieveable by hand, but it'll take a whole lot longer to get.

T-I do it both on the side for money and for fun. Lemme know when you wanna get it done and I'll give you a price, etc.
