Question debadging

How do I debadge my scooby? Which solvents to use? I also have a sticker left over from the dealer on the trunk, what would work good to take this stuff off?

Thanks,
Nirmit

Use a hairdryer to heat the glue - pull gently and all should remove easily without damaging the paint.

If you are very very careful, or you know a detailer who has done it before, you can use a tiny screwdriver to peel the letters off. Then erase the glue from the bumper - literally - with a big soft eraser. Believe me, it sounds silly, but I live at an aprtment and a professional detailer did it for me that way b/c I have no heat gun and nowhere to plug in a hairdryer.
Also, after you erase (this will take a little while but is worth it if you have no heat gun) wash and wax gently.
Just an alternative method.
I will have some pics soon I don't have a good camera.

Boy this is a first....
A guy tells you to use a heat gun or hairdryer, and a girl tells you to use a screwdriver
Thanks for the eraser tip Subichick I will remember that one. For real!!

I used a blow dryer (dont get carried away) and monfilament fishing line that I sawed back and forth behind the letters. I used WD40 to take off the glue residue. Then a little wax and away you go.

Yeah the fishing line is the way to go. Go out and buy either really strong fishing line, or a steel leader and saw through the glue on the letter. Thats how we do it at the Body Shop I work for, we use piano wire and vise grips, but its the same thing. To get the rest of the glue off, we use adhesive remover, I think you can buy that at any parts store, or you can try using the Wd40, I haven't tried that one yet. If you use a screw driver no matter how careful you are, chances are your going to scratch the paint. If you use the wire, you cannot scratch the paint, the wire stays in the glue and never touches the paint. Thats really the easiest and fastest way to do it.
The sticker will be much harder, I would try a hair dryer, heat up the sticker until its really hot, not burn your had hot, but hot enough to not want to hang on to it for very long, make sure you heat the metal under it also, so that you melt the glue. Then try to peel off one corner, once you get a corner, then put the hair dryer back on it, and pull the rest of the sticker off.
Good Luck
Steve

fishing line can scratch if your not careful, use waxed dental floss for the letters and decals (after heating ofcourse), do one letter at a time. for the big 2.5rs badge you really need a screwdriver. then use a hairdryer to heat up the sticky crap left over and peel it off with your fingers (or an eraser i guess), use low heat if you use a heat gun, i did this on my truck and heated the paint when taking off the pinstripe, when i pealed back the pin stripe a chunck of paint came with it :P... it really simple it takes time tho.

this girl lived upstairs from me, i thought she was really hot, and she came walking out while i had my car backed up on the sidewalk running a extension coord out of my apartment i was sitting on a lawn chair with a soda and my cellphone on the ground next to me, and using a hair dryer on the trunk, she always thought i was weird after that, then she moved away shortly after.

FYI Andre: it was A MAN who used a screwdriver, he was a professional detailer, and mine is not the only Subaru he successfully and quickly debadged this way.

Cool

hey you can also use bug and tar remover the liquid form not the spray on and gently rub the glue out.. I used dental floss on my letters and a heat gun just be careful not to heat up the paint to much because you could damage the paint. good luck

I used the dental floss and hair drier too. when you reach the right temp the floss glides thru easy. The eraser works well. For me the WD-40 just set the adhesive and made it real hard to get the adhesive off.
