The bottom half of my climate control lighting stopped working in my Civic. Or rather it wasn't working when I bought the car last year. I took apart the HVAC control unit and there are two light bulbs. One burned out... but they are not bulbs you can really get down at Schucks. They've got like 8" long wires with a special plug on the end. Bummer. I've gotta go to Honda to get it fixed. The Subaru is probably the same, just a burned out bulb. But seeing how FHI made the subarus so easy to work on, they're probably regular bulbs.

is there a little bulb on the back of the display?

in the GT there were individual bulbs.

you have to pull the whole section off the dash and check... i am pretty sure that's your problem.
