no the lugs wont work, the threading is right but the lugs themselves wont fit the rims -> time to go out and buy some new ones!

Spoke with Timmons subaru in Long Beach today,
the 2002 wrx and the 2004 STI use the same lug nuts because the part numbers are the same on the factory parts diagram at Subaru!.

They use the exact same lugs. Just switched a set of my friends STI rims, have never been off the car, to new rims and noticed the lug nuts.

Default thanks!

I'll be picking up some gold STi wheels next week for my (blue) 04 wagon -- good to hear I don't have to go out and get new lugs, too! One step closer to the STi wagon I wish Subaru had built in the first place...

I would go and get new lugnuts; the stock ones suck and if you take the wheels on/off very much, you'll end up screwing up studs. I've watched many an autox friend do this.

Default Sti wheels on 2002 WRX

The wheels went on Today without a hitch!!
The stock lug nuts are the exact same as the oem lugs on the almighty STI. The 2002 WRX and the 2004 STI lug nuts have the same Part number in the subaru service computer also. They look great and as soon as Ican post a pic to nasioc I will.

I would attribute this problem more to person error than the lug nuts.
