Default Anyone wanna wire a CEL fix for me in Greensboro, Winston Salem, or Raleigh

Anyone in those cities want to wire up my CEL fix for me? I dont trust myself enough to do wiring crap. I need it done before saturday, because that's when I leave for school. The car needs to be inspected, and I can't get it inspected til I get rid of the CEL my exhaust throws.

buy a pack of two 18mm spark plug anitfoulers at your local car parts store. drill one out with a 1/2 inch bit, screw them into each other with the one drilled out on top, then screw the downpipe sensor into the the anitfoulers, then simple screw the whole thing into your downpipe, search for "help with downpipe cell fix install", or search for more posts under my name.

2000 2.5RS....no turbo, and thus no downpipe.

Use the antifoulers. No wiring involved.

I just wouldn't splice up the wires going into the ECU personally. I've installed one before and I didn't like it. Not to mention that eventually it didn't actually work and the CEL came on anyway. That's why I'm a proponent of the mechanical fix.

If I wasn't going out of town this weekend, I'd help you out. You might get Prestige to do it for you. Did you get the cat-back from them? If so, they should do it for free. If not, I could suggest popping up to Dale's place ( Boxer4racing ) and see if he might have time to do it. I would use the mechanical fix though. I've got one but I just have not had the time to go out and put it on.

Does yours disable the cruise control when the CEL light comes on? The STI does and it pisses me off! Course, all I do is disconnect the battery to reset the ECU but it's still a pain.

Or, you can just reset the ECU and then go get it inspected.

Actually, you can only fit one of the anti-foulers in there...or at least that's all I could do. There isn't enough clearance between the O2 sensor and the bottom of the car. Might also be because of how the O2 mounts to the random tech cat section. Anyway, it works like a charm. I had had a CEL for over a year and a half and now it's been gone ever since I reset the ECU. I thought about the MIL fix, but they cost $20 as opposed to $5 for the set of anti-foulers.

If I lived closer, I'd just come by your place and hook you up with a pre-drilled anti-fouler to install.

I've been told that unplugging the battery to reset the ECU will no longer cut it for inspection. Prestige could install it for me.....for 57 bucks.

57 bucks....or 5 bucks. It's up to you. Btw, dealerships usually don't want to install an illegal device onto your car to pass emissions.

57 bucks to intsall a cell fix, what a joke.

dude, a 6 year old could do the mechanical cell fix i mentioned. im 18 years old with limited car experience, i did it myself in under 45 min. a sharp drill bit will make things go faster (you do know what a drill bit is right?)

We could do it here at NOC on Saturday. I have to work in the office but could do it between 11 am and 3 pm sometime. Let me know if you want to drive out to the sticks and I'll bring some tools in and we'll get er done.

For $57, the reduced hassle factor of taking it to Prestige isn't too bad either.

In this day of the Mechanical O2 Sensor CEL Fix, you'd have to be a complete moron to actually buy the wire-in type of CEL fix.

Wayner, wish I could come out to NOC to have ya do it....but I move back to Greensboro in the morning. Oh, and nhluhr, I didnt pay for it. It was given to me for free. So, an update to this thread. Anyone in GREENSBORO, WINSTON SALEM, or RALEIGH wanna help me out? I tried to get the car inspected today by just disconnecting hte battery and then going. Well, I didnt get failed, but I didnt pass either. It couldnt complete the OBDII scan because of some readiness codes not syncing up or something like that.

Except for the fact that since I have been at Prestige, we have had three cars come in with the Mechanical 02 sensor CEL fix that were firing 02 CEL codes. We wired in the Helix CEL fix and the codes have gone away and never come back.

Perhaps you should ask very nicely and the doctor from winston will do it for a small fee.
