Default Sti Pink Springs - Please Help

Hi everyone,

Just got a 2005 WRX. I am looking to lower my ride a little without sacrificing too much ride comfort. Does anyone know where I can buy Sti Pink springs that are specific for the 2005 wrx>? Any other recommedations would be appreciated. thanks

Yes you can use the Sti verison 8 pink lowering springs from the JDM market. In Japan thats what they use on WRXs for a lowering alternative and good ride quality. starting in 2004,the WRX came with a much improved strut and better dampening, so it can handle the Sti sport lowering springs no problem. Our full time guy Mike has them on his WRX, and hasnt had any problems. We sell the real actual JDM springs. 247-217 spring rates.

Hope that helps.

If I lower my car with the STI pink springs, Can I still have 17 X 8's without rubbing? Or do I need 17 X 7.5's?

How long are the stock struts supposed to last on the '04 WRX with the pink springs? Seems to be a drastic change in strength.. From what I've read the tophats and struts need replacement? Any extra information or any that has experience with these springs... please let me know. Been researching the issue for quite some time and still haven't been able to make a decision. Thanks.

One of my employees has them on his WRX and has logged alot of miles, autocrossing , track days, and city driving. HGe has no leaking, an they feel great still. He has an 04 WRX,which came with the upgraded struts. Its very relative, as I have recently realized that not eveyone slows down for decent size bumps in the road, or driveways, etc. some people just hit it dead on. Yes the car can take it, but you cant think the struts will forever, so I get on my employee and wife for just thinking these cars are Rally Acropolis ready,..they are'nt. ITs like anything else, you have to take care of it, and treat it right. Some people are not "bump" savy , and seem to hit all the bumps. I know Mike who works for me will agree, he seems to find his way into every pothole, esp when he is driving my STi !!

I just installed the STi Spec C suspension upgrade from racecompengineering (STi Spec C struts with 04 Pink springs), and it is amazing. Beautiful drop, incredible handling even with the stock tires, and the ride isn't one bit harsh.

I'm not one to hit bumps "dead on", I actually avoid bumps to my best ability ... How are his pink springs + stock struts performance in comparison to the STi base suspension or any other suspension upgrade in comparison range? Thank you for your response.

I drove it the first day we got it on,..it reminded me of my old GC8 impreza with strut tops, and firm KYBs, and flat turn-in. Keep in mind the wife has a 2003 WRX and its stock struts are like a magic carpet ride. So the ride impression was very impressive. He has been able to hold off on take off struts. We just did a guys 04 Wagon with the complete kit,..sways, braces, tops, the whole nine, its so flat and turn in is crisp like wheaties before the milk ( sorry its after midnight, and I'm hungry but trying to loose weight)
the overall feeling is impressive. Maybe 90% of a stock STi ride feeling and handling.

Thank you for the information, I might go with just the springs after all, at least for the time being... Oh yea, I was also wondering if you had any experience with Prodrive vs. Sti pinks springs? Might be a stupid question but this has as well been plaguing me for some time now. Can you also pm me with the pricing on the set-up mentioned above.. the Spec-C suspenstion upgrage ( Spec-C struts + Pink springs). Thanks again.

PM sent. I sell both the products and have driven both and prefer the Pinks hands down. BUT,.thats my opinion. Soon we will have two spring only cars at Summit Point and try to get a feel for the differences.

Hey Myles, Thanks again for all of the help. Do you happen to have any pictures of your friend's WRX with the pink springs installed. I just want to even out the fender gaps... similar to the prodrives. Does this spring accomplish this?

I dont , and he wont be back til monday, but I'll take some pics. I think the one thing that I DO like about the Prodrives is the leveling effect it has, which is what alot of people want, however STi and Subaru both have found that the slightly lower in the rear stance handles very well. So it depends on what's important to you. The Prodrives def do the job of leveling things, but I like the matched firm feeling of the pinks myself.
