There is a third screw, dead center on the bottom, about 2 or 3 inches in from the edge.

Dual Cup Holder
Man this is a pain to install. I tried in on my lunch break thinking it was just two screws that hold that darn thing in. NOPE it just could nto be that easy.. nooooooooo.
I have to pull the Air conditioner controls out it looks like. sheesh.. what I wont do to be able to hold two beers.. haha Just kidding.. dont drink and drive.. Is their an easy way.. has somebody done an install on this modification and documented it.. SCRAPPYDO stephen I really prefer had metal things to soft scratchable plastic things.. |

well after removing the center dash molding, the radio and CD player, center dash trip peice, and finally climate controls, I was able to get to they damn cup holder. Sheesh, I need two beers after that, but it fits perfect adn works fine. I look forward to having two whenever I need them.

Hey ScrappyDo, it took me and Tabolau a whole night to figure out how to take that darn cup holder out. It was a pain in the A$$.

are you referring to the dual cup holder from the forester?? does it hold anything larger than beer/pop cans - like plastic bottles?

do you have any pics of the install the third screw. i was gonna get that too but heard it was a biscuit to do.

I've done two of these. You don't have to take the top dash out as some claim.
You take the shifter surround out and the cover over the stereo. Take the 8 screws out that hold the heater controls and stereo head. Push them in then down. You can reach the 3rd screw though there. Now open the left glove box and remove the lower dash screws from behind the glove box door. Remove the screws from the center dash surround. Now when pulling out the cup holder you can bend the dash peace out carfully to get that big bulge on the cup holder out of the dash. Reverse the order to get back in. |
