Default [noob] 2.5 RS questions.

hello nasoic

as i continue in my venture to find my second car to suit me, and now equipped with the amazing search feature, i have come up with some new questions

i love both the old 2.5 rs and the new 2.5 rs, but i would rather go with an older one because i can probably find them for around 11K which is around my price range. so im thinking maybe a 99-00 RS?

as i was browsing through the gallery, i saw some older 2.5rs' some with two doors and some with four doors. is there a specific model name for these? i would prefer a 4dr since the insurance might be slightly cheaper ( can anybody confirm this )?

also, how good are older subies at maintenance, i am a college student that wants to get from one point to another, but not in a civic like everybody else. i also wouldnt want to spend time in the shop waiting on repairs/problems. i know that it all depends on how the previous owner drove it, but in general, are they still pretty reliable? i mean its almost 2005, so these cars will be 5-6 years old already.

sorry for the noob questions, and thanks for reading

SB.

the 4 door is a sedan and the 2 door is the coupe...even thought my coupe says sedan on the b-piller...the 98 and 99 were all 2 doors and the 00 and 01 were 2 door and 4 doors and 02 and beyond are all 4 doors

the USA code for the 4 door is GC6 and the coupe code is GM6

i dont know is a 4 door is cheaper to insure than a 2 door

what can i expect out of a RS with maybe around 70K+ miles?

also, are you sure there isnt a difference between coupe and the 4dr insurance wise?

there is no diff between coupe and sedan insurance
the ins co lists both of them as SEDAN
as the coupe is not a true coupe it really DOES have back seats!

my RS has 86k miles on it and no serious problems/issues at all so far.

hope this helps

Subarus run very well on a lot of miles. My 00 RS has also been great without a single problem.

Also, if you ever get bitten by the modding bug, subarus are very DIY friendly and fun to work on.

well in that case... i guess ill go for the "coupe" ... well its good to know that high mileage isnt really an issue with these cars, i just hope the previous owner did the usual maintenance etc...

yes i will probably mod it as i like DIY's... maybe just the suspension, whatever else is DIYable. appearance doesnt really matter to me.

Dont go spend $11,000 on a 2.5rs. I got mine (a week ago by the way) for $8551. It's an '00 with 93,000 miles on it, although it looks like it's got mabye 10,000 miles on it (interior is REALLY clean, engine is clean, etc.) It drives well, clutch is good, nothing wrong with it at all, and it even came with an aftermarket intake/exhaust/underdrive pulley installed!!!

The only problem i've had so far is that the left headlight wont always come on, a little tap on the back of the connector and it turns on, i'll rip it apart and fix the loose wire sometime soon, but again, nothing to worry about.

Actually, i dont know how much i pay for insurance. I'm on my mom's insurance, and i just switched it over from my firebird to the subie. I keep writing her $400 checks, and call it good (i owe her lots of money). I know it's more than i want to pay though, lol.

$203.10 per month in Colorado on a MY00 2.5RS...

Of course, I'm still recovering from a fairly ridiculous driving record this car gave me a few years back
