Default Need some help from experts

I've been getting the Slow Circuit Response on the 2nd o2 Sensor and have a question on this particular CEL. I understand what the code means, however, how does this affect the car? From what I understand the sensor codes for 2 things. The 1st is to monitor the CAT and code if it goes bad (clogged)... the 2nd (Slow Circuit) basically tells you the sensor is going bad.

In my case I don't have a CAT so that is why I'm coding. My question is this... what exactly happens from this point? Does the computer actually make any adjustments on the backside of this code? I do know that if you remove this sensor all together that you don't even get a check engine light. I think this is due in part that the computer isn't getting the 2nd sensor reading and never codes without that information.

If anyone can link me to some more thorough information on what happens after the CEL then I might be able to come up with a better solution than just an extension (working with an exhaust manufacturer). I currently have about a 2 1/2 to 3 inch extension on mine and it still codes on and off at random. I plan on correcting this altogether (im stuborn) and will definitely post my findings to everyone.

I posted this in Turbo 2.0 as well so I appologize for the double post (I'm lazy and it's easier to cut/paste :P)

Thanks in advance.
