Default Escort Passport 8500 x50 VS Beltronics Pro RX65

I cant decide between the two

http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleid=9090

they are both pretty equal.

they are the same price on ebay if I go with red display on the escort...

opinions?

IBvalentine1anddontspeed.

these are both just as good ad the v1 according to the test and have more stuff, v1 doesnt detect as much, but has better laser detection, thtats about it.

Ive always been a fan of the Passport. If I was going to buy right now I would go with the 8500.

I've read that radartest.com is heavily biased... I don't know why but I have read that. Just a thought.

I can't argue with my V1 though

are they v1 haters? lol. I dunno they said that both detectors are pretty much equal, and the beltronics has better pop identifying capablities and more bells and wistles no pun in teneded.

V1 all the way, n00b
Yeah, radartest.com has had some kind of pi$$ing contest going with Mike Valentine for years so they never give his stuff good reviews.
I <3 my V1, wouldn't have anything else.
And none of them are infallible so the driver still needs to engage "common sense mode".

v1 is out because its to expensive.

they didnt say the v1 was bad they said it was really good in certain aspects, but lacks user friendlyness and programbable features.

buddy has a passport that I have used a few times. Its a great device that has saved both of us from numerous "violations". Highly recommended from a users stand point.

I did a side by side with my V1 and my friends 8500, the V1 was just as good at picking up everything, plus the arrows own the 8500.

my suggestion...v1 + lidatek laser jammer

or

whatever radar detector you can afford + lidatek laser jammer

...this because a lot of police departments are switching to laser which is instant-on...and detection of instant on is pretty much worthless...so better to actively jam such signals.

Just an ignorant n00b question when it comes to radar detectors, but isn't the V1 running the same hardware that it's been running since it was first introduced back when Jesus was alive or something? I know there are software updates and all, but I dont see how newer radar detectors with new technology haven't caught up with the V1.

Nope, thats not true at all, if the arrows show he is off to the side or behind me I keep geing, or even speed up.

The Bell and the Passport are made by the same company. They are pretty much the same product.

Get the ZR3 laser protection if you get anything for laser. It's the only one that actually does anything.

I've had the Bell 865, Passport 8500, and now I have a V1.

The V1 eats them all alive.

They were both the exact same. No BS.

I sold my Bel to a friend and we used to chill in our cars all the time side by side. Whenever a cop was around, they would both go off at the EXACT same time and stop going off at the exact same time.

Either of those is a great detector.

Im leaning towards the bel because it has voice alerts, and a little better rating than the escort..also from what ive read escort wont honor the warranty if its bought off ebay.

decisions decisions
