Default How much $ for insurance?

I'm moving to fort collins in a few weeks, and I'm wondering how much you all pay for insurance a year.

I called up progressive, and gave them my information... im 18 years old, clean driving record (no tickets, no accidents), owned my car since i was 16, took drivers education here, including a winter driving course, and my car is a 1998 subaru impreza 2.5rs, blue, with 79,000 km (49,088.31 miles).

I'm trying to get (close to) full coverage on the car.... and they quoted me for $6000 (USD) a year??? ***? I asked them too if I drive another car like a 94 civic (even though i would never drive a civic) what it would be... and they said it would be around the same price. I also called up geico and they gave me about the same quote.

Is this how much you people in colorado pay for insurance? Or are the companies trying to screw me over since im moving there from Canada?

Also.... if I drove my car down to colorado.. how much do you think it would sell for? It is bone stock except for a sub, amp, and speakers which came with the car when I bought it used, and an auto transmission. I just think it might be hard to sell the car down there if and when i decide to sell it since its history is in canada and has its guages in kilometers.

There anyone in colorado selling their 1998-2001 rs? I haven't found any yet...

EDIT: got a new quote... its actually $7324 a year now... Full coverage would be $4545 / 6 months or $9090 per year

One... you're 18... and two, you're a male, and three, you're 18.
When I bought my car, I was 20, they quoted me $2300 for 6 months, and that is with a CLEAN record... I have 3 tickets now (two of them are triple digits), and I know my current insurance is going to drop me, so I went to progressive, put in ALL my tickets, and matched the coverage, and now I am at $1050 for 6 months. I am 21 BTW... It's mostly just your age.

WAIT A MINUTE... Are you telling us in US dollars, or Canada Dollars?

All the prices I have listed are in US dollars.... but still... $9090 USD for full coverage is a little rediculous...

What the Hell, that is OUT Ragous. My WRX wagon I pay ~ 63 bucks a month Full coverage with 100/300/100 for the coverage. Try giving StateFarm a call, that who I insure through. Get this. I had a 97 CBR 900RR and just take a guess on how much I paid for the it. Hold on to your seats 79 bucks, EVERY 6 months. Thats right ~13 bucks a months. On Bikes statefarm only insures the bike. So if you wrecked you better make sure you have health insurance. That was a coupe of years ago on the rate so I was younger when I had that bike. I am 30 and when I had my bike I was about 24 -25.

Trisk I would give statefarm a call. As a matter of fact I would tell all U alls to call them. There rates my be high at first but they come down quick.

my .02

Yeah that's who I had my insurance through for years. I don't know why I changed over to progressive. After the 6 month policy is up I will probably be going back to statefarm, unless I can get a better rate through the military insurance company after I get though basic and a-school.

State farm rocks. I just turned 25, got my first 2 tickets in 1 week recently, and the 02 WRX is less than $100/mo to insure. We have 2 cars with full coverage, 0 deduct. on glass, and 250 deduct. comprehensive. Insuring my wife's 2000 Pathfinder and my WRX totals $170/mo, and we'd save about $200/year if we paid every 6 months. Anyone in SLC that is paying more should look at State Farm. I have Ross Brunson as my agent and they've been awesome to us, and helped us out a ton thru 2 broken windshields, 2 accidents (my wife's), etc.
EDIT:
BTW, I haven't seen any decrease in price due to me turning 25. Is that a myth or what?
