Default Help! My car is too loud!

Just installed a Helix up and down pipe. I have a Apex N1. This set up is way too loud. Anyone with a HKS Hi Powered with up and down pipes? How loud is it? I still want the fart can look but much quieter. The up/down pipes are loud enough.

Thoughts?

i feel yoru pain bro. I got a vishnu up, mrt dp, and hacked n1 rear section... no silencers.. no cats. And boy does the baby scream. Sounds good.. but the volume is just a bit much. I think i may go with the cheap route and buy a 50$ silencer from gruppe-s, i need something to tone down my car for the canyons. THe hks is quieter but i cant think of anything that still has a canister muffler and that can be considered "quiet"

silencer won't affect performance. other option is changing catback to a quiet one like borla sti.

Sell you my stock '05 cat-back exhaust for cheap... Big chrome tip looks ricey, big 'ol muffler keeps it stealthy.

The SPT cat-back (by Borla) I put on this weekend is somewhat quiet, but sounds mean with a little gas. Amazing how these flat 4s can sound better than a V8.

How do you like this muffler setup so far? I've heard good results with the SPT rear section and an up/dn pipe combo. Have you changed yours yet? If so could you post a sound link? I hope its not too loud, I was thinking about getting this setup.

I have a gt spec also. I went from a blitz nur spec, which aggravated my neighbors, to a borla hush, which was too quiet, to the gt spec. My wife even likes the apexi.

At 3k rpm it screams. My friend that was driving with me said it wasn't "illegal" loud. It's to loud in the car though. I can hear the exhaust more then the radio.

For what it's worth, I have a Vishnu uppipe, Helix downpipe, and HKS Hi Power cat back and have received a ticket for it in a residential neighborhood (read: driving less than 25mph).

Everybody complains that it's too loud, it drones inside the cabin (the worst part about it IMO), and sets off car alarms in parking garages. But, damn, I still think it sounds beautiful (especially at WOT).

Kevin suck it up. I got reved at by a 20th anniversary GTI when i was making a turn where were you. I need you to shut him up. Sorry hijack, I was wondering if the pipping of an up/down pipe is 3.0 through out and my exhaust is the STI genome which is 2.5 pipping is there any power lost or am i fine?
