Smile public school started back up today....

So I was coming home from work...when I noticed the brand-new-last-year led message sign for MWHS read something like 'Welcome Back Student....yadda yadda yadda'....so I was for a minute then realized Mineral Wells is retarded starting school this early....summer just started it seems like...then I saw people turning into the school and realized "YES!!!" school did start today...and then suddenly out of nowhere this blast of joy and happiness arose from deep inside of me because I no longer have to deal with the turmoil and chaos or High School.... somehow I broke into a thunderous kackle halfway home after seeing a bus load of kids on their way to marvelous things know as Public Schools

In addition....no more punk little kids running around in the daytime

any other schools starting this early? b/c when I was a kid we at least waited till labor day...

life was so easy in school.

no bills, no layoffs, no picking up the slack for your co-students, no idiots in charge, I could go on.

it was so simple: wake up, show up, make friends, eat lunch, do a little homework, go to easy job after school so you have money to have fun with your friends.

In the DFW area, most schools open today. Keller ISD opened two weeks ago.

The two schools on my way to class started today, now I have to add a couple minutes to my commute to account for the now active school zones.

Or maybe I should ride my bicycle to class and speed through the 20mph zone

I got nabbed by the Texas A&M campus cops for going the wrong way down a one way street on my bike. Two of the jumped out in the middle of the road and nearly yanked me off my bike. (this was years ago by the way)

You're doing the local school boys & girls a favor by slowly rolling through their
school zones with your Suby gleaming, exhaust burbling, etc.. It makes their day,
I'm sure! They're being treated to some fine pieces of automotive machinery in
their midst.

Be careful out there. A couple of my kids start junior high & 9th grade this week,
and some of you may be ogling my older girls on their respective college campuses,
too. (Baylor, UNT, & TCC.) Yes, I'm old! Blended family R us...

Couple minutes must be nice. I have one school zone, about a quarter mile long to go through. My commute was 20 minutes last week and 35 this morning.

Pshaw!... I don't even notice when school's in session or not on my commute... I get to work by 6am every day anyway... I figured out a long time ago the only cure for 'school-traffic' was to get up earlier. Katy started sometime last week I think.

The only time it screws with me is going home... I live around the corner from an elementary school and the soccer-moms line up all down my street, blocking my driveway if I get home by 3-3:30 (rare, but it happens). I get a kick out of it though.. drive up, put my signal on as if to split the line of cars... they look at me with doe-eyes like "oh my gosh!?... what is this maniac trying to do!?.. cut in front of me!!..... oh wait.. this is a house, he must live there..." (comes the dawn...) Then they pull about 20 to 30 forward, reverse manouvers to back up out of line to let me into my driveway...

The best part is when the car immediately behind them zips up and steals the spot, leaving the other person stuck in the street. It happens, far more often than you'd think too... People these days have zero common courtesy. And these are all suburban soccer moms... they probably all yakk with each other at PTO meetings... yet they're as cut-throat as a pirate when it comes time to line up to pick up their precious little gems from school. "I'm already late for Suzie's soccer practice!!... sorry sister, I'm taking that spot... suck it up!"

... the last two things that'll come crawling out of a nuclear bomb crater: a cockroach and a pissed off soccer-mom.

^^^ Ag-reeee-d They SURE didnt have chicks looking like they do now when I was in school... Me and Milkcartonkid surmised it must be something about cow steroids or something in the food. I mean hell, you had the occasional fat black chick with boobs in 4th grade, but this is different

and keith ritchards... that guy is death himself.

even i think its different now. i havent been out of highschool long at all either. as i told scott one day, it HAS to be the damn food. but damnit i like it! thankfully i have no school zones in my daily commute. it is kinda funny to go and roll through them when school gets out though... lots of people looking at the loud car. now when classes start at d.c.c.c. i have 3 or 4 school zones to go through... DAMN. maybe i can race through them at 45461326584132 x2 mph and street race at the same time, while yelling **** the police.
