Are you implying there's something wrong with running it out of its efficiency range for prolonged periods of time? Subaru makes such crap! I can't believe they don't stand behind their products!

Wakefield "Is the downpipe to turbo exhaust gasket in the oil cooler schematic?" Subaru

The sad thing is, it probably is a defective turbo but Wakefield is denying warranty replacement anyway.

What are you talking about? Its covered
A kid came in with his wrx with the mbc cranksed to 22PSI,
first trip in
Melted pre cat COVERED
Second trip in
Blown 1rst gear COVERED<< this was even towed in from EPPING

I did warranty brakes on a 54,000 mile car the other day.

If your car is broke, they look to see if its stock, if it is, they cover it. Too much so in fact. A lot of stuff that shouldnt be covered get s covered..

Great shop, nice guys and EASY cars to work on.
The amazing thing is, I was right in my assumption that subarus are all pretty much the same car. They totally are (almost the same that is)

Just wondering. I had a very poor experience there with one of the managers and getting my WRX alignment done. The other manager was cool though, and Alan in the parts department was always pretty helpful.

Good luck there. They have the best hours for service (open until 8PM) which is great for customers. Trying to get to the Subaru dealership in Arlington/Cambridge by 5:00PM requires a helicopter with a suspended car port!

Well so far from what I can tell working there, they dont get many WRX's in to work on. This was the first in 2 weeks and I grabbed it right up. I have a feeling I am going to get most of the WRX and STI work, unless its something like electrical, which is my weak area.

Oh and before anyone asks, no, I cannot get complete illegit crap warrantied.
I will, however if I see a WRX in for something, and they are giving it any crap about aftermarket, do my best to make sure they dont deny something due to an unrelated part.

But if you come in my bay with a blown tranny and major engine mods, I am not going to even try to cover that. You play, you pay

They didn't do particularly good work on my car.

Claimed my power steering pump was okay even though Exeter found it clearly to be bad.

They changed my oil and crossthreaded the oil pan plug so that it leaked and most of the oil drained from my car before I noticed it.

I had to get a clutch replacement at 40k even though I brought it to them at about 20k under warranty and before most of my modding had been done. They said it was fine. The clutch ultimately failed because of my abuse so no warranty claim made but I think the clutch was always defective.

I don't have any work done there any more.

Yeah, that is my experience too. I had an alignment done. The car pulled to the left after the alignment. I brought it back and the service manager took it for a ride. He counted the dashed lines on the highway it took for the car to switch lanes w/o holding the wheel (it was 17 lines) and said the car was within Subaru specs.

You should have seen his face when I asked for him to show me were in the Subaru service manual that crossing lanes after 17 dashed lines on RT95 is "within spec".

So, I said prove the alignment is within spec. He threw it on the rack, printed the results out, and told me my rear strut was bent, and that was why it was out of spec. They didn't tell me that the week earlier when they charged me ~$60 for the alignment though, an alignment that couldn't be done since my suspension was bent according to them. The printer was also "not working" when I asked for a printout when I paid.

I just left and didn't even ask for the money back. They claimed someone must have hit the car over that week, which wasn't true.

Well, hopefully Dave can turn things around.

Sorry Dave. I didn't intend to have this thread go in this direction.

Good luck there.

I have no doubt that Dave will do a good job for anyone who brings a car there. I just won't be one of them. I won't buy there again either.

I also had numerous bad experiences and hassles from the service manager and master mechanic. I only go there if I need a part that day (And even then its a hassle for something as simple as an exhaust gasket)

I'm down the street from wakefield and have only had general maintainance done there. Compared to the CitySide subaru and Ira (year ago), I thought they were the most personable. Ira parts dept. is tons better now, they were able to get me the OEM subaru coolant that didn't exist at Cityside.

I'll start going to Wakefield now.

I do work for wakefiels at least twice a week and have never had a single problem with anyone there. Then again they have never touched my car but I did score a few random freebees from them so I cannot complain. Davenow if you see me doing an alarm or what ever come out and say hi I am the guy driving the black rs wearing a micorp tshirt.

...how far can I go and still be "stock/safe"? (I don't think 22psi is even near being resonable, bet no gauges either eh?).
