Question Air pump delete - CA Smog Inspection

Hey guys,

Got the dreaded P0410 Secondary Air Injection System CEL. Worse yet, turns out smog inspection is due quickly on my '09 STI. I have read up on the air pump delete from a few threads. Seems pretty viable and doable for me based on my own wrenching abilities. Got two possible strategies...

1) Assuming valves are not stuck open... Pull fuses, disable CELs via open source tuning. Leave gear on. Smog car. Remove gear later...

2) Remove gear, disable CELS. Smog car.

I don't have any inclination whatsoever to fix the system... But I do have to act pretty quickly as I need to get the registration done on the car. Anyone in CA have any issues/experience/advice with smog inspection and the air pump delete?

Thanks in advance...

There are separate CA Chapters ( So or No Cal ). No CARB or Smog Nazis in these parts.
