Default Oil change at the dealer tommorow!

Im scheduled for a oil change tommorow at South Coast Subaru. I was just wondering, does anybody know what kind of oil and filter the dealer uses on wrx's? Do they use oem stuff or cheap stuff? Also do they give you the option of using 5w30 or is there only one kind of oil they use?

They'll just use dino oil. . unless you pay for the synthetic. You're best bet is to ask the dealer as most use different things.

Dealerships get oil from a local oil supplier. It changes with each dealership. I have seen Mobil, Pennzoil and Quaker State at my shop (a Lexus dealer). Most likely they'll only have one weight of oil if its a single make dealer. They all use the same OEM Subaru filter.

I always take in my own oil. I get the Mobil 1 5qt jugs from Wal-mart and save some $. If you can't do that this time, do it next time to get exactly what you want.

I'd save myself the money and the risk of them messing it up and just do it myself, just takes about 10 minutes and you can also mess around on other parts of your car while you're at it

I don't think the dealer would use any "cheap" stuff on your car. The OEM filter is most likely from a big name brand company and just rebadged. I currently have a Mobil 1 filter that the dealer put in at the 15k check up, so I guess they use quality parts.

Actually I do. In the waiting area they have a screen with a live feed camera on the shop area as they work on your car. And 2nd I always get my left over oil back in the original container. I am sure with some sneakiness they could pull something off, but doubt it.
