Default Utec installation question

Here's a really really stupid question, but I just can't figure it out...where is the kickplate supposed to go after you install the utec? do you reinstall it? I know this is supposed to be a 20 min installation but I have never touched the car ecu wise and all the reading I've done hasn't helped.

As far as my STI goes, yes it does. You put those long threaded posts into the holes where the kickplate bolts went. Then you install the kickplate on top of the UTEC and bolt it to the long posts. You loose about 1 1/2" of floor space, but so what. The extra bracket it comes with allows you to intall the top bolt for extra bracing. The instructions say it's optional. After fighting with it for 10 minutes, then dropping the screw down into the floor, I gave up on it.

Then you have a bit of a problem. The kickplate really should be installed, so you may need to buy longer screws from a hardware store and something to space out the plate maybe 1.5" or so. A UTEC normally includes some standoffs to allow re-installation of the kickplate.
