Default TMIC vs FMIC

I'm thinking of selling my TSX TMIC for a TSX FMIC. I have a good feeling about this but I'm worried about too much turbo lag. I plan on a bigger turbo in the near future. I know once the bigger turbo is bolted on, the car will love the FMIC. There will be less drag once the hood is replaced with a hoodless scoop and the FMIC should look really cool. Is the FMIC really worth the trouble?

It all depends on what your going to do with the car. A fmic does have alot of piping, but if you dont mind about 500rpms more lag then its not a big deal. If you have the money get the manifold flipped around and that will solve alot of the problem. But from what i understand a fmic is good for drag racing because there will be less if not any heat soak. Just think of your plans for the car. Just my thoughts.
Oh also the hood scoop being gone isnt going to make you that much faster. I wouldnt worry about that.

No drag racing here. I'm a PCA and BMW club instructor. For me this is just a fast street car and a fun track car. Do you think this mod upgrade is worth all the trouble. Will my top end really be better?

i agree, replacing hood for a scoopless one isn't going to do anything noticeable. The drag on these cars is horrible no matter what you do.

Like he said, if you dont mine a little extra lag, go for the front mount. It Cools MUCH better than a TM can dream of. If you want to make big power, you have to go FMIC. If you're looking for a moderate power sleeper (which is what I am building), stick with the TMIC. Keep in mind the bigger turbo will LOVE the TMIC, but a bigger turbo adds to your lag formula.

I'm personally going to turbo wrap my VF34 to prevent heat soak, and stick with a big ass TMIC. But, i'm not looking for 400BHP, i'm going for 325 with minimal lag. Take your long term goals into consideration and you should have your answer.

Also, this is the engine management forum, as well as you double posted. If you're gong to use the forum, please obey the rules.

Will do the above. I realized I posted in the wrong spot (engine management)which is why I posted twice.
