Question 05 2.5 RS Seats- Uncomfortable?

I am considering a new 05 2.5RS wagon, but I find the seats very uncomfortable. The side bolsters are painful on outer thighs. I am 6'2"" and 200 lbs and not fat. The 05's have significantly upgraded the interior- better fabrics, vinyls and plastics, cupholders which makes them a better deal than a used one, but the seat!

Am I alone with this problem? Does any body know a fix (besides a new seat) I love the car in every other way, but I can't buy an uncomfortable seat.

Any help or ideas????

Thank you

The seats in my 04 OBS are not comfortable for longer drives. They drive my lower back nuts if I am in them for longer then about 2 hours at a click.

Ditto. My lower back gets killed with these seats.

The side bolsters on my 04 WRX seats felt a little bit uncomfortable at first, but they got better. I'm not sure if bolsters got softer, or maybe I just got used to them.

Maybe you could find a way to borrow an RS for a few days to see if you get used to the seats. Or maybe you could find one that has already been driven for a a while to see if the seats just need to be "broken in."

Im 6'1" at about 180lbs...no comfort issues with the 05 rs seats. (these being the base seats, not the single piece units). So far I've driven 3,000 miles in them.

I bought a '04 TS that had been on a dealer lot for some time. Although its missing a few of the options of the '05, the seats are completely different. I'm not comfortable in WRX or '05 OBS seats, but the TS seats are perfect. Though there is less side and bottom bolstering, I find them perfect for marathon trips (6 or more times a year at 10hrs +). My roomies have an '05 and the seat bottoms are very uncomfortable for me.

I know there are quite a few '04 TS' out there and it may be worth a look. For another $400, I picked up another set of wheels and a WRX 6 disc headunit so I'm very content with my purchase.

Also, for size reference, I'm 6'4", 260lbs.

I'm 5'10" and 190. The seats in my OBS kill me. I think that I need to add a lower back support pad. Or somehting. After 2 hours of driving, I am usually really squirmy. after 7 hours of driving I am in pain. The seats in my VW owned the seats in my OBS. Everyhting else though, the OBS owns the VW.

Just to show how subjective seat comfort is, I'm 5'10"/175, and after doing several 5+ hour trips this summer, plus two 8+ hour trips on the same weekend earlier this month, I think the seats in my '04 OBS are pretty good. I like to sit high with a fairly upright backrest, probably more so than most people, but I find this maximizes thigh and lower back support. Works for me. I haven't tried the new '05 seats, but obviously adjusting them isn't the answer if the more aggressive side bolsters crowd you.

You are mistaken. The 05 seats are teh same as the 04 seats. I think the side bolsters for my legs are a bit tight, but my back never hurts on long trips. I too aam 6'2" 200 and I think they fit nicely.

yeah I was a little uncomfortable when I first got my WRX (and I'm a giant fatass) but I did get used to the side bolsters (or maybe they got used to me, haha) and I have no problems now. I also went on a 3500 mile round trip in the spring and no comfort issues whatsoever. I did a similar trip in my v6 mustang that I owned before, and my ass was KILLING me.
