Guys -
After hashing things over with Marcus we decided it would be best to ship the crate full of exhausts to our fair city, San Francisco rather than L.A. I think I can obtain the use of a cargo van for hauling the crate from the airport. From there however, the path the exhausts will take is uncertain. Somehow I need to obtain boxes and packing materials for 8 of them, find a place to work (hopefully other than my third floor apartment in El Cerrito), package them up, and get them to FedEx. YOU have the opportunity to become a part of I-Club history. YOU have the opportunity to earn the everlasting gratitude of the GB participants. I'm not sure I can do it by myself. I will happily pay for correctly sized boxes (approx 175cm x 65cm x 30cm or larger with the the potential to be cut down) or for a place to work, and there is FREE BEER in the offing for anyone who can lend a hand. The anticipated arrival of the crate at SFO is late this week. It may take some time to clear customs. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys, Bret Jensen (510) 232-1978

If you toss in free Pepsi, I should be able to show (outside of the M-F 8-5 time frame).

Thank you all. So far we have Alex, Stephen, Andy, and Philip. That gives us two wagons. Think we can get it all in one trip? If not I will look into some other vehicle. My colleague in San Mateo (lives right off 101) has offered her garage for temporary storage. What should I do for boxes? I always used to ask for them at grocery stores and check cardboard dumpsters when I needed them in the past.

Well, I work at a library (I work at the media center) and we just got a bunch of new furniture, so.... big boxes! But I don't know if they have already gotten rid of them.

Boxes will need to be roughly 175cm x 65cm x 30cm or larger with the potential to be cut down (probably necessary since we are on volumetric weight).
Important Update The crate will be landing tomorrow, Thursday, June 7 at 7:01 AM. This means it may clear customs on Friday and we will need to get it out of the warehouse by 7:00 AM Saturday. Please e-mail me at SFOcargorun@pkmotorsports.com and post here if you will be able to make it on Friday mid-day to afternoon. Thanks again! |

Friday, around work, will be a "non-normal" day, so I really have no clue if I could get out or not, and probably won't know till that day actually hits me. If you can keep updating me (either by e-mail, pm, or this thread), I will try as much as possible to be there to help out.

I'll be done with work at 5 if I can still be of assistance, and the boxes here have already been gotten rid of... sorry!

Another important update:
The guys at Action said United's warehouse may be open 24/7. This would be key as it would mean that nobody has to miss work and more importantly the warehouse will be open on the weekend. I will keep you all posted as soon as I learn more. |

Thanks Josh. I confirmed two important details with UAL Cargo at SFO: First, they don't charge storage over weekends. Second, the warehouse is indeed open 24/7. This means nobody has to miss work, we can pick it up on Friday evening.

UAL cancelled flight 862 for Thursday, June 7. This means (I assume) it will go onto Friday's flight. I don't know if it can get through Customs in one day, although it does show up at a good time for this, before Customs opens. If it does I would like to get the stuff on Saturday. If the crate does not clear until Monday I will need to get the exhausts on Monday evening. I'll post here as soon as I know more. Thanks again.

If it happens later on Sat, I may be able to help. If a F250HD pickup with an 8ft bed would be of some help, I could bring it instead of the Subie. I need someplace to unload the bed before making the run (long story).

The crate did not leave on the June 8 862. Currently it is scheduled for the June 9 flight which will put it through Customs at the earliest the afternoon of Monday June 11 and possibly during the day on Tuesday June 12. Who can make it after work on either Monday or Tuesday?
