I'm finishing up all the mechanical stuff on my swap, and soon coming to the electrical part. From all the info I can see in the FSM, the neutral switch on the MT's is not linked to the ignition system. The only spot I can see it going to is the ECU. There is a pin on the ECU for it. That's it.
Is that the only computer/input there is for this switch? I'm not exactly sure what to wire it to, mainly because I'm not sure which bundles of wires go where and tie into what. I've got both harnesses MT & AT, so I'll just make a plug & play harness for the neutral switch & reverse lights, but I may have to wait until I get the tranny in, and can get the car off jack stands and do some testing/probing. BTW....check out my page for latest info & pics on the AWD & 5mt swap http://www.main.experiencetherave.co...rannyswap.html Josh

Josh,
I think you can just wire the neutral switch into the ecu, i actually dont know what it is used for unless the ecu knows to go to certain load/decel or something? i think the clutch switch is hooked into the starter if you want to make it so you cant start it without the clutch in, but if you dont care about that and using cruise control then you dont need to bother. good luck, prob didnt help at all. lol. Thanks Ben,
yeah I'll probably just wire it into the ECU. I'm creating a make shift plug & play harness with the MT harness off the old car, and my AT harness off the tranny. I think there is a pin in there soley for the Neutral inhibitor switch. It should go to the TCU. I'll route the pickup point at the TCU to the ECU. I'll figure it out Like I mentioned I need to do some testing with a test light to see where the wires are actually all hooked up to and such.I'm ready to throw the tranny in, I'm just waiting on parts that should have been here a long time ago..... |
