I am jsut wondering, if with enough interest....we could get a sub-forum either here, or in the Old School forum strickly for the EA82 Turbo engines...tuning and bulding discussions.
Sticky maybe?

I dunno Will! You know you folks are few and far between. I say 'you folks' but I'd be right there with you if I had an EA82T Scooby. Maybe someday if I get rid of my XT6s. I've been feeling the same way as you do about these cars for a long time. There's some potential there that it seems just haven't been unlocked yet. |

Well, ive got two RX's...the 89 in non running condition...no rear diff or axles, trans is plenty good.its all stripped out and needs body work and the unibody is tweaked in the front. the 88 is in running condition, at near stock condition. Runs good...just a little weak. Sounds suspension on it. Could use rear axle boots re done, as those are...well...starting to sling that stuff out. 3rd gear syncro is weak, other wise its a good car. Some rust issues, as it was a mountian car. Needs new pads and the rotors resurfaced.
Id like to get....well...had plans to make it a parts car. Its woth $1000 to me, and i know thats too much for an RX in this condition. Id trade for an XT6! ![]() the 89 is not going anywhere. Its parts for the wagon. the trans is due to go in it, and the LSD rear is already in. Other suspenion parts and the engine stuffs are going in it. The wiring will be up for grabs and stuff...as well as the interior. I guess....after I get the susp. and engine/trans out...and load it up with the rest of the two car's interior parts, id let both go for 1k. Clean titles on both. Now...as another option....i could get you the parts to turn one of those XT6's into an EA82T powered car...read: engine block+heads+manifold and complete wiring harness. OR.....as it soon may become mine...an 86 XT turbo 2WD 5spd. one stubborn sticky valve in it...its stuck half open. Needs gas tank...its rusty...the tank that is....one can be had for cheap tho. |

Will,
I'm late in replying but that 2nd car being offered sounds interesting. Hrrmmm.... My 2nd XT6 I just purchased is O/S at the moment for some reason. Fusible link blew and ceiling light blew out and I lost all power. I just replaced the fusible link and will be putting in a new bulb. It's at Xotic Motorsports now. I'm thinking the timing belts broke but I'm no mechanic. I couldn't work on the car on property owner's property and towing it from there is a small fortune (40 minutes away). This all happened as I finished testing before and after results of cat back exhaust on the dyno. "Sounds suspension on it. Could use rear axle boots re done, as those are...well...starting to sling that stuff out. 3rd gear syncro is weak, other wise its a good car. Some rust issues, as it was a mountian car. Needs new pads and the rotors resurfaced." Sounds like my 2nd XT6 (the one at the shop). Autotranny runs but feels 'weak' to me, especially compared to my other XT6 and OBS's autotranny. No serious rust issues I can think of. I saw some developing in the rear where the spare tire floor is (saw some water there). It has no radio in it since it was removed by previous owner. I've replaced the spark plugs/wires/cap/rotor and fuel filter. It has had the tranny fluid replaced, coolant flushed/replaced and oil changed. I think it's going on two months since I got it. I have some additional spare parts for it as well as 4 16" steel Legacy rims (one is bent) with good tread on them. Brakes seem to be ok and engine runs strong. I have receipts as well as dyno info on the car in AWD and 2WD mode. I purchased it with the intent on putting Frank Germano's 'InVAID' supercharger system on it. He's just about completed development for it for the XT6. http://www.xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2658 I need AWD to run it and my FWD XT6 has N/A cams in it. So I got this car. However, I may consider a trade for a turbo in good condition. So what do you think? You can see a few pics of the car(1989 XT6 AWD/Autotranny) I'm talking about in these threads: *Note, My name is Myxalplyx at the site* http://www.xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2709&start=0 http://www.xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.p...highlight=dyno Last edited by Kevin Thomas; 09-02-2004 at 08:10 PM. |

Another EA82T guy here, came over from usmb. 'ohio turbo wagon' where are you at in ohio, are you "86subaru" on the other board by chance? I live in the NE corner of the state.
Kevin, I guarantee if you got that RX you'd love it, they are fantastic cars! I own 2 roadworthy 88 RX's and 1 parts 88 RX. I will be doing a lot of custom work on it which will be posted in the Old School forum, and perhaps engine stuff occasionally here in other factory turbo. XT6's are nice, and I want one someday to play with too, but ea82t cars like the RX are cheaper and more plentiful to get parts for, and really seem to take well to modifications. The only ea82t car that is perhaps a better candidate for auto-x in stock form would be your light and nimble XT Turbos - still can't beat that RX tranny thou! |

I have to get this squared away, after I fix my black XT6 (brake calipers and I knocked loose an ECU wire removing the ECU). I have a some loose wiring from hooking and unhooking a fuel controller and ProECM Powerchip. Hopefully Will and I can trade up and both be happy. I'm actually looking forward to it. I just hope the RX will be ready to drive around as the XT6 will be. Now, back to the EA82T stuff. Boss just called (I'm at work). |
