Question New WRX rear door speaker cutouts

Check this out guys, I noticed that the rear doors of the new WRX appear to have mounting locations for speakers precut into the sheet metal. Maybe this is for the JDM 10 speaker option. Could be interesting for a multichannel system, maybe I'll throw some mid/bass drivers in there. Even with decent coaxials installed I bet it would sound quite good. The rear seat passengers would get the treatment!

I'm contemplating one of those nice 6 channel amps as we speak...

Whaddya think?

The rear doors in my sedan have the premolded piece where the speaker would go.

The Impreza wagons have their rear speakers there on the 93-01 models so I think the new WRX are the same door panels and unlike the current ones, (The wagon panels don't come in RS black interior), The WRX wagon rear panels can be ordered for the sedans because they have same interior trim.

Hope this helped!

The WRX sedan at the LA Auto Show had factory locations for front and rear door speakers (6.5" and maybe 51/4 or 4"). The rear deck did not have any speakers in it, but it did have the cutouts for 6.5" and maybe a 6x9" if your careful.

I have a feeling the 4 speaker basic system will be front and rear doors only, no rear deck speakers.

This is generally done for a couple of reasons:
1. Cheaper for base model
2. Frees up some room in trunk
3. Cut-outs allow for dealer step up system
-My guess is you will see a 8 speaker step up system with sub (9 speakers all together) from the dealer.
-The rear door speakers would be mid-bass only, too low in the door for anything else, and the rear deck would be mostly highs.
