Nice find - here's some stuff from Google:

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...p?storyId=8865

http://www.toyo.co.uk/index.php?fuseaction=car.t1-s

http://www.toyo.com.au/proxes%20t1-R%20page.htm

http://forum.miata.net/ubb/ultimateb...c;f=3;t=009870

http://www.tyretradenews.co.uk/current/itma2.html

http://www.toyojapan.com/new_tires/p...t1r/index.html

They look like a T1-S with a stiffer sidewall and better dry grip - which would be a good thing.

It appears the tires are available now/soon in the UK and Oz, but the miata.net link stated they aren't due in Canada until January - maybe that's when they'll hit the States. No word of them on the Toyo USA website.

I just sent Toyo an email - will post their response ASAP.

thanks, I had read some of those links the other day. I really liked my T1-S's so I'm curious what these will be like. The guys on scooby.net have a group buy going on as well. Can't wait!

I don't understand why us Americans get kicked to the curbs when new stuff comes out. On Toyo's global website, it says: "T1-R, available market: all countries except USA" When are we gonna get this? when it's half used from Japan??

I was planning on getting a set of T1-R because of improved dry grip. But now the new Azenis is coming out with better wet grip so I might stick to that instead.

probably because of some regulatory restriction or required testing that takes time and money. It'll prob show up eventually

Email from Toyo told me:

"We currently do not have an exact release date of when the T1-R will be out.
We have plans to have them out by the end of this year."

....wonder which arm and which leg they will want for these....
the T1-S isn't an inexpensive tire...at least in the US

Yeah, the UK site says that it will eventually be the replacement for the T1-S so I can only hope it costs around the same price bracket (at the most!).

These are looking very promising as my next set of tires. My T1-S' will last me maybe six more months or so. This will give me some time to save up for these. Like Arnie said, hopefully they won't be too much more expensive!!!
