Default STI Advan Tires and Rain

I am supposed to pick up my new WR Blue SCI tomorrow. THe car has the Yokahama Advan tires and I wonder how they are in the rain. Do they hydroplane?

I ran my WRX on Proxxes T1-S from new. They are incredible in the rain (and dry).

My prior car, a 1993 RX7 Twin Turbo came with Yokaham A022's. Those tires were suciidal in the rain. Driving in the rain was one step up from driving on ice with slicks. Old Escorts could outcorner me on nearly bald tires in the rain.

.
Advans on an STi (or is it SCi )??

What happened to the RE070's? They are passable rain tires, but nowhere near a T1-S in the wet. But in the dry they have plenty of stick.

Default Advans on the STI

"SCI" was a typo. I hae T!-S on the WRX and I ahd them on my RX-7 Twin Turbo.

I have had dunlop SP-800's, SP-900's, Bridgestone SO-2's and T1-S on the RSX-7. Nothing matches the Proxxes in the rain. It is like it is dry out.

I am trying to anticipate what the ST is going to be like in the rain.

driving through PA in heavy rain... let's jsut say that the traction provided by the stock RE070's made me SLOWER than the semi-trucks becasue I was hydroplaning...

which advan tires are on the car?

if they're hte DOT legal advans, they're probably the A048R's which from the looks of them, won't do too well in the rain. since the only other DOT legal tires are the A032's, which are in 18" only.

A032's are also available in 17 but, they would have to be 235/40-17 or 245/40-17

and neither the A032 nor A048 are very good in the rain
