Default clutch slips bad only on launches

I have an exedy organic street clutch and i was trying to launch the other night just for the hell of it. . i tried slipping the clutch at 5k and the car lurched foward and then fell flat on it's face while the revs jumped to redline w/ the clutch fully disengaged. The smell of my clutch filled the cabin. I tried again, this time slipping at around 3.5k and the car launched fine. This was the ONLY time my clutch ever slipped. I tried 4th and 5th gear runs w/ no slipping. I tried just mashing the gas in 1st and still no slipping, no loss of power. What could be the issue here?

too slow a release will heat up the clutch. a hot clutch has a lower coefficient of friction than does a cold one. therefore when the clutch is hot it slips. your answer is to release the clutch a bit more quickly to prevent it from overheating and consequently slipping.

This has happened to me on the stock clutch a bunch of times.
For me, I think it's a combination of an old, tired clutch, and the fact that I'm making more power than stock.

I just release the clutch at a lower RPM.
