Default Don't get towed with 2 wheels on the ground.

In honor of the recent mishap down in Austin, I took it upon myself to make my own version of the AWD sticker that was posted the other day. I'm not exactly sure if I'm stepping on anyones toes as far as copyright infringement goes - but I guess I'll find out soon enough if I am.

is the tow truck company liable for damages they do to the transmission if they do end up towing?

Tow truck companies have insurance to cover a lot of "mishaps" that may occur during towing. One guy from an auto insurance company recently has said:

Quote:
the policies that my company writes will cover only specified causes when a vehicle is in tow.

Fire, explosion, collision, overturn, theft, vandalism...I think that's it.

Anyway, we won't pay for screwed up transmissions because of incorrect towing...unless...well, if the transmission happens to catch on fire, then we'll pay
If they break it, they're responsible, IMHO. Whether or not their insurance covers it is another thing. If their insurance does cover it, you're in luck. If not, you'll have to try and get them to pay out of their own pocket, which may not be easy.

Maybe? Someone posted a similar sticker that I used for "inspiration". I didn't know where to get one so I made one for cafepress so I could order it. I thought I'd share the link.

If these are already available from another board member first - people should buy it from him, not me!

i think every austin resident should have one.

talk to the austin subaru dealership and tell them to start carrying these since the tow trucks there seem to tow arbitrarily

THANK YOU. I'm getting one. My car is STILL in the shop because of this incident and this sticker could be the one simple solution to ignorant tow truck drivers.

Don't park in tow-away zones or no no spots and it shouldn't be a problem?

I like the license plate frame. Just something about bumper stickers that I don't like.

Same here...that's why I did the license plate frame. It's a bit less permanent. However, they're illegal in TX - but that doesn't seem to be enforced.

license plate frames are illegal in TX? I didn't know that.

I do like the frame better, I should get one of those. I just wonder if the inbred Jed tow truck driver would even bother to read it.

Well, techinically, a license plate frame is not illegal. However, a license plate frame that obscures even the tiniest part of any letter or number on your license plate (including the "TEXAS" at the top and whatever your plate has at the bottom) is illegal and can garner a $200 fine. Since just about any license plate frame will cover up part of the "TEXAS", as does my FIS frame, for the most part they're all illegal.

yeah, but what i'm wondering about is why aren't Big Chrome Trailer Hitches that block half of the plate illegal, then.
sounds like either a revenue generator or an artbitrary reason to pull somebody over.
