Default Fixed My Car

was putting on a friends greddy type-s bov on my car today (which BTW does NOT fit very good at all, had to unbolt the rails that sit on intercooler, maybe jdm i/c is too big?) and i happened to notice this.

yep, thats a hole in the intercooler rail. So i step on the gas full throttle, and WHAM spools all the way to 19 psi in a second. I was like holy ****.

so everything is good now. I knew it was something stupid

right now i have 3 layers of duct tape on it, just temporarily. Seems to be holding up good. What do i do to fix the rail? Have a welder put some stuff over it?

That hole is no where near big enough to cause the troubles you had, but if it helps thats great. You shouldnt even notice any difference in boost pressure, its just too small. Get it fixed and get that car to the track!!

Take it to a shop and have it welded. Any radiator shop should be able to do it.

Go to a welder. They can braze it shut for a small fee. JB Weld is good for some stuff, but I'd trust brazing more than JB weld for that.

JBweld is an epoxy, it'll hold just fine though. Just mix the 2 tubes together, smear it on, and your good to go (fixed my radiator more than once this way). Wal-mart sells it, pretty much all auto stores sell it, home depot sells it. It's about $6 and is good to have around anyway.

I'm not sure on exact figures but i've JB Welded an oil cooler on a DSM, and that's held with the pressure and oil contact. So i say try out JB weld. It should work, and in this case it's good because if it fails, it will either get caught in the IC or blow out to oblivion!

(DSM's should've come with JB weld from the factory!)

HAHAHA gooooo duct tape!!

If you do weld it, make sure they are good at working with aluminum. It takes a bit more skill than the various steels.
