Default Stange Noise at Startup

My car as been sitting in the garage for the last 4 days without being started. When I went out to go to work today (working on Labor Day, what a treat) the damn thing sounded like a Mack truck for the first 1-2 seconds after startup. I shut it off and fired it back up with no repeat of the symptoms.

Any ideas? The car has sat for a longer in the past but I don't remember hearing this before. Was it a lack of oil in the valve train? I am due for service but I checked the oil level and it was fine.

Cheers-

Tom

I don't know about the WRX, but my boxer engine gets a loud clanking sounds like tank tracks if it's been sitting for a while or the oil level is low. Goes away after a minute.

I've heard it's caused by the oil not being present in parts of the engine. I don't know about the WRX but my car has hydrolic valve lifters.

Seems to just be a BOXER thing.
