Default EJ18 ECU into EJ22 ECU harness

I just picked up a EJ18 ECU and was wanting to put it into my MY99 EJ22 harness. I'm just experimenting right now but before I put it in, I was wondering what kind of things might happen.

One of my guess is that it may throw a CEL or two.... It may or maynot run better.... etc.

Any guesses or hints or "you should not change ECU" replies?

why do you want to do this? Just for shiats and giggles?

If it ain't broke....don't fix it.

Is the Ej18 ECU you picked up OBD2 or OBD1?

yea it's just an experiment.

The ECU is off of a MY93 automatic FWD, so my guess is it may throw a CEL somewhere.

There are going to be a number of wires from your OBD-II car that won't be read by that OBD-I ECU. A large number of the pin placements are the same, but there are some that would need to be moved to run properly off of the 1.8l ECU. But as has been said, what is the point of this little operation???

I was wondering how the car would run with this ECU. I was in search for a knock sensor off a MY90-MY93 legacy for my car because I figured that those knock sensors would still be in good condition. I just happen to run into an MY93 Impreza so I figured I might as well take some stuff off of it. So I grabbed the ECU.

I'm really debating if I should plug it in or not... I may be able to go faster without that speed limiter that I have with my stock ECU....just testing...
