What car?

This being the old school forum, I am assuming you have an old school soob.. EA82 or older.. In which case there are no applicable recalls

If you have an outback or something... head gasket jobs can cost $12-1400 at a shop. If you still have a warranty remaining hopefully it will be free.

If your car is older which I am assuming, it would probably be cheaper to do it yourself.. I blew a head gasket on my 87 GL and replaced pretty much everything (seals gaskets and such) for a couple hundred (that included the clutch too!) A shop would probably have charged 1500-2000 for what I did.

Maybe find someone who knows subarus (a fellow board member) who would fix it cheap. If you were in Portland I'd do it for a reasonable cost.
