hey guys,
Just bought a 2001 RS from Docksteader. Just wondering how to join vancouver impreza club, and how often do u guys meet? Also, is there anything similar in Victoria? I have also heard rumours of stores in the Lower Mainland with Subaru parts and accessories. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Here's what you do, if you see another subaru that may be a person that posts here, give them the finger when you're on the street.

welcome ! There are plenty of shops in the lower mainland that cater to Subarus . When the time comes ask around in the board and we'll point you in the right direction !

Yeah with no Victoria forum, we all hangout and chat here with the Van crowd. It's all good cause then we stay in touch with mainland events and it promotes good vibes.
![]() As for meets you missed one last night while you were wasting your time with all those hot women. I'm just bitter that I was so busy with preping my car I wasn't reading the forums.. ![]() We need some more Subarus at the meets, I showup and I'm the only one, it's hard love.. (Especially when the local 4x4 club makes a better turnout than us! (There were just 3 of them and they weren't part of the meet, they just parked in the group cause they needed some coffee at the timmys.. ))Last edited by 420WRX; 09-18-2004 at 01:44 PM. |

I have been searching for ages for a blue"i" emblem for the front of my 2001 RS (GM6). I know they have them on eBay, but the shipping cost is ridiculous, like $25 US. Any help on this would be much appreciated. On a side note, I want to remove the subaru badging on the trunk lid of the car. I have been given advice to use a hair dresser and some bug and tar remover, along with plenty of wax. I want to be as nice to the paint as possible, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

On a blue 2001, expect paint fade to be your biggest issue.. Even when you remove the letters, the paint will be darker where they were and you may still see 'SUBARU' in the paint..

Hey,
I considered the paint fading, but the car has been sitting in a garage for 2 years, hence having only 12,000 miles on it. After a few coats of wax I dont think it will be an issue. Even if you can still spot the subaru, it might be kind of a cool effect. OK maybe I'm pushing it, but I think worse case scenario is I have to put the lettering back on. What do u think? Chris |

Well if you have a steady hand, straight eye, and some good adhesive, putting the lettering back on might sound easy.
![]() Though you are correct, if the car has had a very sheltered life (ow) then it should be less of a problem. If you want my opinion on the de-badge it's pretty cut n dried.. As someone who knows police too well, I can tell you they get a real kick out of seeing cars they cannot identify. If the police have a theft in the area, or another issue, they want to say that they saw all the cars that passed the location and none of them were a blue 'Toyota' sedan, which is the vehicle that was seen leaving the crime/accident/whatever.. So then they have to pull you over and check you out to identify the vehicle and while they are there they may aswell go over everything. At that point your headlight mods, lowering springs, tint, in-dash video display, etc.., could get you a VI. Ofcourse it all depends on the police officer, how modded your car looks, and how you handle the situation. Bottom line is you don't want to give a reason to be pulled over, not unless you're 100% legit and can prove it. Oh and there's resale value and all that stuff too. So I figure if you're going to the show, sure consider a debadge on the car, but for a daily driver, leave them on. Now where's Buster to find a perfectly good argument for wanting them off.. ? ![]() |

hey 420wrx
u make a real solid point about leaving the badging on. As far as mods, the car is completely stock, except for an sti carbon fiber sway bar in the engine compartment, so I don't think I'd be getting any hassles or be required to do any vehicle inspections from the 5-0. I actually dont plan on doing any mods on the car until it is paid off, and being a student, that could take some time. Even the mods I do plan to do would probably be strictly cosmetic. As far as resale value, does it really affect it that much? I guess if they see any modding they just assume i'm some young punk that really bags on the car. I plan on having the car for a long time, so I'm not overly worried about this aspect. I guess i'm still split on the decision to debadge, i could still be swayed in either direction. anybody have any opinions? |
