Default Boost Creep with COBB AP?

I Called COBB and they said my sti I should not have boostcreep when using
a TBE with an AccessPort. I hope this is true so I dont have to send of my turbo to get it ported(would much rather not). Also I know of some people boosting up to 20-21 P.S.I is that boost creep or spike?

Anybody know whats the deal?

Boost creep is when you are on the gas and the boost just keeps "creeping" up and keeps going until you let off the gas, of course. If it hits a certain psi, the ECU will "kill" the engine until the boost drops. My brother-in-laws STI did that after he got his TBE on and I thought I killed his brand new car when it happened. That was in the winter. This is due to the inablity of the wastegate to keep up and bypass enough gases to control the boost. A boost spike is when you are on the gas and the boost will peak above set psi and then settle down to set psi while still on the gas..

Try the newer maps LWG map. Also - is the TBE catless?

Catless TBE may be a problem - even with a COBB setup. Have you tried the LWG maps from COBB?

Listen to Cobb...no need to port. Depending on your elevation, peak boost will vary. There are several maps you can experiment if you have boost problems. To answer your question, boosting up to 20-21psi would be considered overboost.

I have a catless APS 3" tbe, and a stg2 cobb map flashed to my ecu. Turbo is stock and unmodified/unported, it does NOT boost creep at all.

The reason the car's creeped in the first place was because of the stock waste gate duty cycle curve, it assumes the back pressure seen with the exhaust that came on the car, when you take that away, bam.. you get creep. Lot of people have fixed this mechanically by porting, rather than though the ecu mapping, because tuning was limited when the wrx sti first came out in the us.

No boost creep here! The car pulls so hard,Im very happy with my setup. I had to use the lwg map. No complaints at all. I am going to the dyno friday and racing saturday.
