Default What is the most bestest DVD player with Surround Sound spkr system I can get?

Or should I NOT buy the combo system?

Also, I want to hook up games to this surround sound theatre.

Sorry for the grammatical violation. Nothing is better than "Most Bestest". Not even Superman or Silver Surfer.

Last section on the page. The HTS-670 at $399 looks awful similar to the HTS-677C at $599. I don't know what kind of quality Onkyo DVD players are, but for $200 you can get a pretty decent player.

Just a thought- I've been shopping for a while and have pretty much decided on the HTS-670, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Not Bose....

Check out Cambridge Soundworks or Polk, not sure if they make an integrated system though. The audiophiles should start filing in with more relevant info...

Never buy a package system...you can always do better. How about Denon AVR-1705/1905 [edit] and paradigm entry level 5.1 system? Can't go wrong, affordable, much better sound.

Or, if you can swing the extra Benjamin, go with the 770 for MOAR POWAH! At AVSForum, the 770 is the hot HTIB right now. I've seen it as low as $350 w/free shipping from Circuit City. You'd need a DVD player too, of course but you're on your own there.

Talk to me like I'm a 4 year old. Please. I don't mind.

You can always do better period. Your advice is misleading. I t just depends on how much you want to spend.

I bought the Onkyo 670 system and think it's excellent for the money. Waaaaay better than anything I've ever heard in the same price range. I'm no devout audiofile, but I do appreciate music enough to listen to a dozen different speakers before deciding on my Magnaplaners.

And you need speakers, receiver, and DVD player?

Onkyo HTS-S770 refurb (they don't always have them, though) and the DVD player of your choice. Sure you can do "better", but at that price point, that's probably the best value.

Yeah the speakers are a little larger than what you can get for more money, but it's not that bad. Plus it's Dolby 6.1, however I've yet to find many DVD's in 6.1 but it's there if you want it.

For $600, the Onkyo rig is proibibly your best bet. $500 for the system and you can pick up a DVD player of choice with the difference.

My living room (small) is sporting the HTS760 and it's pretty much perfect for my application (budget and room size). The new HTS770 steps up to a new receiver with a bit more power and Pro Logic IIx and a bigger sub (10" vs. the 760's 8"). I wish I had the 770's 10" sub as I feel the 760's is a bit lacking... though that may be due in part to my sub placement.

One word of advice, get yourself some decent speaker wire. The 22 gauge wire included in the package doesn't cut it. Save room in your budget for some bulk 14 gauge from Home Depot.
