Default Autocross Sunday September 19th at Harry Grove, Frederick, MD

Ok, it looks light it migh rain 50% chance. So I wanna see all the Subarus over there showing how this is done. We have 30 people already signed up. Please don't assume that since you go there every time we have you in the list. We'd really appreciate it if you'd let us know you are coming so that we can have your information already in the computer. We have to limit the number of cars to 50.

Autocross on September 19th:

Captial Driving Club is having an autocross on Sunday September 19th at Harry Grove, in Frederick, MD.

Fee for members is $20.
Fee for non-members is $25.

This autocross guarantees at least 6 runs (3 practice runs in the morning and 3 in the afternoon).

If you have to leave early, we can give you 4 runs in the morning and count the best of the four runs as your time.

For more information you can visit the website:

Max,
My wife and I plan on going unless the weather calls for rain all day. I'll confirm with you either way on Friday. Perhaps I'll end up autoxing in our WRX for a change.

What are the rules/requirements for the AutoX...

...helmets? SCCA License? etc....

I have never looked into this and my wife and I are thinking of coming up to watch tomorrow...and maybe get into participating...

Helmets would be a good idea but not absoulutely neccesary. They have some loaner helmets. No SCCA license is neccesary. Ride along if you want. I will be running 2 cars tomorrow so I will have lots of seat time. I will be running my white 4-door integra and my dad's Black STI. If you want to get into auto-x, I suggest you ride along to see what it's like. I would say it's the best roller coaster ride ever.

Yup! Today's Subaru Challenge is more like a class 1 white water rafting trip.

Yeah, what he said. I will have 12 runs as well, if you would like to ride along in a 2000 Blue Impreza RS, or the Black STi while I am driving it.

Excellent event! The track was a little less complex than usual, which made for a quick and fun course. That back straight was FAST.

This was my first time driving an STi, and that thing is just too much of a change from my RS. I don't think I am ready for that kind of power just yet.

Best run in RS: 35.5 (and thats about the best those Ecsta 711s are going to do)
Best run in the STi: 33.88

Running my father's STi was probably a one-time thing, but it was a lot to get used to in just one event. I think there was a lot of time that could have been shaved off, but I just don't know what the car is going to do and when. It took me many runs just to get used to when the turbo spools, which was very hard to deal with.

Also, A special thanks to Ed Chan and the rest of the club organizers for letting me use the lot to break-in my new race tires this morning.

Fun day! Nice course, short but pretty quick. I was pretty happy with the way things turned out. Good job Ed!
