Alright so I updated it with what we have so far.

If I missed anything let me know.

Ross or Tim if you want to take over the track stuff, please edit your post already in the thread to include it. That would be helpful

Hey John,

Can you please add the following events to the autocross schedule:

MAR 10 Augusta County Gov't Center Verona, VA SCCA Member Test/Tune
MAR 11 Augusta County Gov't Center Verona, VA BRR Event #1

Club: Blue Ridge Region SCCA
Event type: Autocross

www.brr-scca.org

Verona, Va is just south of Harrisonburg and right off of I-81. It's roughly a 2-2.5hr drive one-way from I-64W in Fairfax County. I'm the course designer for the Saturday T&T event, and our Solo Chairman (L. Combs) is the designer for Sunday's Event #1 course (he's a Corvette Z06 owner). Registration is through myautoevents.com.

Just come to an event and drive your own car. There are plenty of people there who will offer you rides and instruction.

Autocross is a good place to start.

I am about this >< close to registering for this but the fact that it is on Shenandoah kinda makes me hesitant, and now that you have called it ShenanDOH-a makes me wonder. Any feedback? I know it is hard on tires and brakes and that there is virtually no runoff at all.

It depends upon your interests and goals. Personally I think Shenandoah is a blast, and I can't wait to go there in May with the R32 club.

It is really technical and rewarding for the patient driver, with some true "pucker factor" sections when you're going fast. It favors handling and smoothness over horsepower, and it's not easy to be consistent due to all those turns in such a small amount of real estate, but it will really make you giggle in your helmet once you figure it out. And the runoff room is only an issue if you think you might drive beyond your skillset or have a mechanical issue (my incident there was some of both.)

So I would say - if you want to go and learn and drive responsibly and have fun, do Shenandoah. But if you just wanna go blast around and not worry, other tracks might be more fun (Summit-Main, VIR-Full, etc.)

FWIW, IMHO, YMMV, etc...

Thanks, Jon. Given that my car is an N/A wagon it is not about HP and speed for me so it sounds like Shenandoah would be fun. I have done an event at SP main and the JC too. This would be my 3rd event so I am definitely interested in learning as much as possible. I was going to do the VIR-full that same weekend with NASA but realized it is a NASCAR weekend down there at Martinsville, so I decided against it. That weekend happens to be my birthday so I am looking to do something and this PDX may be it. It also helps that it is 15 minutes from my house.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it as my first track event ever, but if you already have 2 you'll be fine. It's just a lot harder than SP-Main or even VIR, IMHO, to pick up and feel consistent with.
