Default PZero Nero M&S vs. SP Sport 5000 Asym vs. Conti Extreme Contact

Need new tires before winter starts. Which of these three would you suggest? I live in So Cal and once the resorts are open, I'm driving to Big Bear or Mammoth every weekend. So for those that don't know, that means dry roads, rain, slush, and snow. Which of these three is the better buy? I'm leaning towards the PZero Nero M&S, but comments/suggestions from anyone who has had any of these tires are welcome.

I've had the SP5000's for a couple months now. They are pretty good in the dry and the wet. When the road is wet they're an improvement over the RE92s but I'm not sure that I like them as well as the old Dunlop D60A2s I had on my Neon. They seem to break loose to easy in the wet (but they are much more progressive than the "Oh, God I'm gonna die!" RE92s). I haven't tried them in the snow yet (Hopefully they are better than the D60A2s). They're reasonably quiet and ride pretty nice.

The sidewall is very soft and they feel nasty and squirmy to me unless they are inflated to over 43psi (max PSI is 51 or 52psi). I'm currently running with 47psi front and 45psi rear. Those pressures feel best to me.

I'll probably go with the PZero Nero M&S when it comes time to replace them.

I"ve had the sp5000's on my civic a little while ago, they were ok, but they were very loud.. not like highway loud, but loud like squeels alot. The tires before those were the dunlop sport a2's which were MUCH more quiet that the 5000's. Same suspension setup and all, just different tires. They are good in the snow, much better than the a2's. But not that good dry traction, IMO. The fact that they are so squeel happy just draws unecessary attention.

I have P-Zero Nero M&S on mine. After breaking them in, they hold very well. I have a lot of confidence in them even in the rain. A friend of mine who owns a Boxter S with SO-3s drove my car through curves on a dry day once and asked "what kind of tires are these again?". I said "Pzero Neros". He asked what I put on the car in the winter. I answered "Pzero Neros". :-) He liked the grip as much as I do. They're no blizzaks in the snow but they do the job if you know what to expect. Other tires on my WRX? Just the RE92s that I pulled off right away and are now sitting in my shed with almost 95% of the tread intact. :-)

I had the Continental ContiExtremes on my 02 RS. I thought they were great, especially for the price and treadwear. They were very quiet, had good handling and were predictable at the limit. In deep snow they rock. They're not Hakka's or anything, but you won't have a problem with winter. Wet handling was as good as my Michelin Pilot Sports that I was using the Contis to replace.

I've had the P-Zero Neros on my car for about 9k miles and they are REALLY loud now.

It's to the point of annoyance on long drives... sounds like I'm in a monster truck or something.

I have yet to get an alignment but I don't think that has much to do with it.

Other than that I love the tires... best I've driven on in the wet by far.

I just wish my tires didn't drown out my GReddy exhaust.
