Smile Finally in the 12's (12.7)

Been a long road. '02, 5spd, stage 4, VF34, TXS up-pipe down pipe & turbo back exhaust (w/cat), HKS SSQ BOV, APS TMIC, STI injectors, Walbro fuel pump, UTEC (tuned by the man Jorge), 17" Enkei RPO3 wheels, run'n 93 octane fuel. Over the past few months have been to several tracks in the Chicagoland area and run under various conditions: hot & humid some days, cold and dry several nights. The car was very consistant except for one day. Mostly ran low 13's with the best of 13.0 several times. Traps were always between 102-103. My 60' have mostly been in the mid 1.8's with a best of 1.78. Just couldn't get into the 12's. Thought it might be the worn clutch. Decided to go to the track tonight and on the way picked up an APS short ram intake. I was nervous about installing it because of the tons of posts and stories about aftermarket intakes & the WRX. Installed it in the parking lot of the Union Grove drag-a-way in Wisconsin. Nice and cold out, no wind. Bad night to run as someones car sprayed tranny fluid on track and they shut it down for a long time to clean up. Only got one run in and had to make it count. Nailed a 1.74 60' and got 12.7 @ 104.48. Finally feel the car is performing like it should. The good 60' plus the intake made a huge difference. No problems with the intake at all. This will be the first time I use a dancing bannana.

congrats man!! did you do a log like we talked about? or didn't have time to run home to get the laptop?

now replace those pinks, get jorge to tune for 21psi, a few lightweight modding, and you're on your way to low 12s.

Default It was a good night

Didn't have time to get laptop. Not sure what next mod should be. Not going to upgrade the turbo from the VF34. Thinking about a 35 shot of nitrous oxide for use at the track only. That way I can have a high 12 car for a daily driver and the occasional low 12 run at the track. My car runs really good right now and not sure if I want to go with headers or other big ticket items that might really hurt driveability. Any suggestions?

I had a EBAY intake and it ran fine on my EJ205 but when it was used on my EJ207 it sucked real bad So I researched other intakes and eventually decided on the APS short ram because it is designed to be compatible with the factory ECU.

Not only did it make my car a lot faster in the QM but, it made my car so much more drivable on the streets

I dont think headers will hurt your drivability much at all.
