I wonder if I could get a loan for a Lancer OZ Rally or Ralliart Edition.

Beautiful car...

The United States is the only country that uses VIN #s. You could use the VIN #s from a totaled Mirage to register the car as a US production vehicle. But it is very illegal.

EDIT - Whoops, got beat to it. PS - stop saying VIN Number! That means vehicle identification number number.

European vehicles still use a VIN plate. If the Evo were a grey market import to the UK, the chassis plate would be considered the VIN plate.

A picture of the actual VIN plate would be nice if you were trying to pass off an authentic Evo 6.

Nevermind... auction says that VIN and title will be provided once payment is received due to security reasons.

Before I'd ever buy this car I'd want to know/see two things... something proving the car is authentic and something proving I can actually register/drive this vehicle in the US. Seller says you can't see either of these until you actually pay for the vehicle Seems fishy to me.

I would guess the reserve on the car is probably close to $50k. I don't really see anything fishy about it. The car is obviously registered under some false pretenses so I can understand why he doesn't want to make that info public.

Sweet evo. I remember watching "Who Am I?" for the first time and saying "Whoa! What kinda car is that??" I didn't know what Impreza's or Evo's were back in '98. This is my favorite model of the Evo, though.

Never seen it parked outside either of their places and I used to drive past them all the time. They did have probably the first REX done up and a few other notables I can remember though. Unfortunately I couldn't recommend their work as they were shady in some things with my buddy over a simple stonegard job.

It is a sweet looking car, but like others have mentioned, there is some shadiness to it.

The article says it's "Ralliart UK." That should mean it's a European car and not a grey market item. Plus it's a "not converted" LHD, which would really lean to not being a grey market Japanese car. Why a UK car would be LHD, I don't know unless it was intended for sale on the continent and Ralliart's work is done mostly in Britian (I'm not going to say I know anything about Mitsubishi's sales organization in Europe, much less a specialist division like Ralliart).

I guess UK could be stretched to include Italy? I know that's hardly true, but that's the only way I can explain LHD without it being a conversion.

The car could be ordered as LHD in the UK. Ralliart has a presence in the UK and you buy cars directly from them.

But which market would the car be street legal in? Are both LHD and RHD road legal in UK? I thought only RHD was, but I've never been there, so I don't know. Perhaps this car was sold for "off-road use only?" Were these vehicles for available for sale in Canada?

Once again...same here!

AND I saw that car in person a while back...can't remember if it was a detroit show or chi-town show but it is gorgous to say the least. Too bad the pics weren't working for me right now Hope it gets a good home and not some stupid arse who's set on racing/ricing/crashing it

I completely agree there WRX34. Nice to be able to take it out and have some good clean fun with it, but I wouldn't put a car like that in jeopardy of losing what it really is. If I had the bucks and everything was legit, sure, I'd take it. Unfortunately, that's not the case.
