Yeah, that's about right.

Post Window Tint GB - getting organized!

OK, I had a chance to follow up with Ray York, who comes highly recommended from Santa Cruz Subaru. I'm going to try and meet him in Santa Cruz this Wednesday to check out his work and to negotiate a price for us.

So, if you want IN on this Group Buy, please post with:

1. What car
2. Do you want the front windows tinted
3. What kind of tint you want, regular, limo, or something else.
4. Are you a "maybe" or a "for sure"

EXAMPLE (me):
1. WRX Wagon
2. Yes
3. Medium
4. For sure

----

One good piece of news. Ray says if we take off the door panels ourselves, we can save him some time and therefore $. Can somebody say DeInstallFest???

[edit -- yeah, I forgot to mention that of course I don't expect you to commit until we have a price. Assume we will get a decent discount off a typical high-quality tint job.]

1.) WRX Sedan
2.) Oh yeah, front window is the most important actually. Reduces glare from sunlights in the daytime and headlights in the nighttime. =)
3.)Need some advice from you guys/gals regarding this.
4.) If the price is right then its a definate.

Regarding tints, I'm not sure which shade would be a good compromise between not allowing people to see in and making sure I can see out.

1) WRX sedan
2) yes (35 %)
3) medium/light 35% the rear side windows 20% the rear window...
(I had my two previous cars done in non metalic green. The way they measured it was 20% was almost limo dark, 35% was light medium) I am shooting for same 35%. I may bring my other car that has it so he can make it the same..)
4) if the price is reasonable I am in.
PS: what door panels? they took off my car's door panels? I just don't think so. Only the Subi dealer may practice on mine. :-)

I know most tint places will do the front side windows, since that's kind of a gray area (you can prolly get away with a light tint, even though it's illegal)
but your windshield?
I like having the backs tinted at night, but having the windshield done seems dangerous visibility wise, and most tint places won't do it...

Sybir, if they will do the front side windows, they shouldn't have a problem doing the windshield, since both are illegal in CA.

I have been in a car with the exact setup I am wanting, you can barely (if at all) tell the front three windows are tinted, till you step inside during a very sunny day. During night it actually reduces the glare from on coming cars just a bit, but doesn't reduce visibility.

Tints do prevent the more UV light than just the glass alone, and with that it protects the people inside and the interior of the car from more exposure. My car does not have a garage to sit in, so any protection I can give it, I will try.

I believe that some tint is legal on the front sides. can't be more than 35% or so though. I'll check. ^^

I saw a civic the other day, smoked mirror tint ALL round. dark enough that even through the side windows, I could see NOTHING inside. a bit severe. ^o.O^
