Unhappy I think my motor is dead

Well on my way to a friends house I started to hear a awfull noise coming from the engine. Actually sounds like loose change in the motor. Im thinking something on the bottom end broke, rod bearings? main bearings? Well I took the car to my local dealer to see if some chance I could be covered under the 5/60k powertrain warrenty, well of course I was denied due to my downpipe and exhaust, and turbo timer, they also said that there was once a blowoff valve on the car, which isnt true. Can I fight this?? If I have to pay out of pocket for this, how bad is the damage? Will I need a new block? If I can get the $$$ together I may go for the COBB 2.2 Stroker Kit ($2750) Wha kind of power would I expect to gain over just rebuilding back to stock? Will I need a form of engine management to take full advantage of .2 liters of displacement? Any and all advice from the people who have gone through the same thing will be very apreciated!

David

Well they pretty much did just a quick diag., didnt break the motor down or pull the engine pan. Im thinking that it just may be a bearing issue, b/c the motor would still run, but it just sounded like something broken and making metal grinding noises.

well it just cost me $1200 to get my car running after breaking a piston and bending a rod

short block
gaskets
fluids
parts

so to me its not expensive to fix the motor if the dont cover it

peace

I would protest the denial, or try an different dealer. They can only deny repairs if the parts caused or contributed to the damage.

screw the 2.2 stroker. get a USDM STi 2.5 block! upgrade the turbo, pump and injectors. get some management and you're good to go

can't be sure what's wrong without seeing the car, but if it's the block I'll sell you another one for $400.

i would have put the car back to stock

and what made them say that the car had a BOV?

to get the best out of a stroker kit, you will need to re map the ecu for a 2.2 liter engine.

The short blocks are basically the same. Your heads will bolt right up.
