Question How to tell how much brakes left?

When brakes are inspected, what do they do to arrive at the percentage of brakes left? For example, how do they calculate that there is 75% of the brake pad left? When is it a good time to change?

LaterZ!
Darren!!

they simply estimate it based on pad thickness.

From the service manual:
Standard/new, including backing metal: 17 mm (0.67")
Service limit, pad only: 7.5mm (0.295")
Service limit, excluding backing metal: 1.5mm (0.059")

For street use, I think the service limit will be the absolute limit before changing pads. For track use, I think you'll need at least half the pad material.
